What is Inner Strength? How do you find it? EcoTrain Question Of The Week!

If only we knew our true potential, if only we were all aware of how powerful we really are. We are all born with the ability to create, to create the life that we want, but as we grow up and get older, there are many things that cause us to doubt ourselves and our own abilities.

Inner strength, where does that come from? We all have our different opinions about that, because we have all experienced different things in life, we have different values, different beliefs.

But to me, Our strength comes from the belief that we have in ourselves, it comes from our ability to connect with our inner self, our inner knowing, our intuition. Each of our lives are full of choices, where we end up in life depends on what we choose. How we choose to treat ourselves.

When I was growing up, I experienced things, that made me feel weak and that really affected my self belief and my confidence. They things made me question my abilities, but there was also a side of me that was very determined,a side of me that was very passionate about the natural world and everything in it. I always felt very connected to nature and I’ve written before how it has always been my sanctuary.

All those times, when I was fearful, it was to the outdoors that I ran, it was the trees that would embrace me and the the long grass that held me. I could spend hours out there, where I always felt safe and secure.

When I was younger, it was nature that get me my strength, it is where I felt strongest it provided me with stability in my life and it offered me the freedom to be who I really was. Because when we live in fear, when we are scared, it is really difficult to connect with your true authentic self, acting out of that fear, disconnects us from our strength, so we tend to look for it eternally.

So as I grew up and through my teenage years and into my early 20s it was nature that I drew my strength from. It was the connection I had to nature that empowered me, that still empowers me. But I carry nature within me, so I know my strength comes from within and that I carried it with me from the moment I was born. We all do!

But as we navigate our way through life, as we enter into institutions we are told to rely on others, we are pitted against one another, encouraged to compete against one another and we get confused and then our self doubt starts to creep in. We suddenly believe that our strength comes from and external source.

We are not educated about the power, that we have all hold within. We are told to always look outwards or to look upwards, to seek everything that we need externally, our healing, our direction, our knowledge.

Imagine what the world would be like if we were all encouraged to connect with our inner power, our inner knowing. If we were all encouraged to build people up, instead of knocking them down,if society was built upon cooperation and acceptance. If we were allowed to continue on our natural path, a path that leads to integration, that encourages diversity and connection.

These are the things we all crave and yet, through our education, and because of the many things that we consume throughout our lives, these things become distant memories and we end up longing for something we no longer can connect with. So we feel lost, unhappy and unfulfilled, but unable to identify why.

Throughout our lives we are encouraged to always look outside ourselves, to seek to improve ourselves through wealth and status, believing that these are the things that bring us happiness and that give us strength.

But it is the most basis and powerful thing that we all need, and that is love. And it always begins with self love. When we combine that with self acceptance we create that opportunity to become who we are meant to be. To connect with our true authentic self. This is where our inner strength comes from.

When I was going through some of the most difficult times in my life, when I felt like I was breaking apart, I just surrendered to those feelings, I allowed myself to scream and cry. I allowed myself to feel, I did not hold back. I let it all flow out of me.

I embraced who I was at that moment and did not allow any preconceived ideas about how I should behave, dictate how I was reacting. I embraced my pain and in doing that, I embraced who I am, the many different parts of who I am.

This is where I believe our strength lies. In being true to who we are, in ever moment. It is not always easy, because we have been so conditioned throughout our lives, but it can be. We just have to learn to let go and embrace ourselves for who we really are.

This is my answer to the EcoTrain question of the week "What is Inner Strength? How do you find it? ". I feel like, I got kind of side tracked whilst I was answering this question. The more I wrote, the more that came out and I think that is exactly how it should be. Because our strength is connected to our unconscious and conscious self, it is our ability to just let things happen, to free ourselves from the many constraints that have been placed upon us, by ourselves and others.

It is in stripping ourselves back and witnessing ourselves through our greatest moments of suffering, that we face who we are. Being able to embrace that person, to accept ourselves and love ourselves, that is were our greatest strength comes from.
