It was about 12a.m. when my sleep was cut short by the shout and noise of my roommate and lounge mate shouting "herdsmen herdsmen" I quickly jumped out of the room with just my nightwear sweating and panting as I couldn't stop my heart from racing fast.
These men were known for terrorising and disturbing the peace of the whole country at large and causing trouble around and killing people with no remorse they invaded a village close to my school (Benue state) hostel and set the houses on fire with people living in there burnt to ashes.
They ripped open a pregnant woman stomach and brought out the fetus as scary as this sounds that's how brutal these set of people are and so that night the villagers were running into the school for refuge and that caused the panic.
They attack farmers in the farm and kill them.
On two different occasions this has happened and it has been traumatic for me up till date. I sleep with fear that something is about to go wrong I wake up unconsciously sometimes and start panicking, according to hubby.
Out of my unconscious state I would be asking "who is that"? Like I have power to fight whoever is coming and it takes hours for me to fall back to sleep again.
When I got home after school I still feel that fear and so my parents start to help me cope with it by calming me down whenever I wake up with that panic. Just little noise wake me up I don't sleep deep and I wake up with the defence mindset.
I have been managing these with prayer I always ask God to give me a calm and peaceful heart I ask for protection as well, I also avoid watching movies that are scary.
My hubby has been my support system each time I wake up with that fear he hugs and pet me back to sleep with the reassurance that I am not alone.

It can be a very troumatic experience my friend, God will keep protecting us. I remember does days too but God sure saved me on several occasions from bomb blast.

I could imagine how devastated you were then. This is terrifying, only hearing their names alone makes me very scared. Those terrorist don't have conscience at all, they kill anyone that comes their way, I wonder when all this people terrorizing will be brought to justice.

Those herdsmen are so horrible, they don't have a conscience either. They have roughly wasted lots of lives, I can imagine how terrifying you felt and the psychological effects on you but don't worry, have peace, God's hand is always upon you to guide and preserve your life, Amen
