As a woman I like to keep up with fashion and trends, always adjusting to my style, but sometimes this sector is not so environmentally friendly, so I have leaned more towards sustainable fashion and I am not the only one. There are many women who are betting on this alternative that is revolutionizing the sector and making it much more ecological. there are great brands that make beautiful clothes that are also environmentally friendly and the best thing is that many women are in charge of these brands that have a super elegant and super ecological style.

Stella McCartney: the queen of original sustainable fashion

This woman has been a pioneer in the world of sustainable fashion for years, she has shown that it is possible to be elegant and look after the planet at the same time, she is committed to cruelty-free materials, which means that there is no leather or fur in her collections, instead she works with mycelium-based alternatives to leather, her brand is that approach between haute couture and environmental awareness, imagine dressing fashionably, elegantly and without harming the environment, I think this is style with purpose.

Eileen Fisher: Keeping it simple and sustainable

Eileen Fisher is the queen of sustainable fashion, simple, elegant and very sustainable, it's based on those minimalist and timeless pieces that you always want to wear and her clothes are designed to last so you don't buy new things all the time and you don't fall into the trap of fast fashion, what I like most about Eileen Fisher is that she is committed to circular fashion, they have a program where they receive used clothes and resell them or customize them to make new pieces. They are also doing their bit to reduce the amount of synthetic waste and the use of plastic in their practices, they are even studying plastic-based textiles.

Patagonia: outdoor gear

Although Patagonia may not be 100% female-led, they are doing such great things for sustainable fashion that I had to mention them, they have gear for all outdoor adventures like hiking and skiing, their products are made from recycled materials and they aim to reduce their carbon footprint this year, selling things is only part of Patagonia, in fact they are trying to get people to buy less and they have run campaigns to remind people to repair their old Patagonia gear instead of buying new, I honestly don't know of any brand that doesn't tell you not to buy their product, which is why I think they are committed to sustainability.

Sportswear that activates change

There is also sustainability for those who enjoy fitness, the brand is Girlfriend Collective, these women make sustainable sportswear, they make their leggings and sports tops with recycled water bottles and this is only part of Girlfriend Collective because they also have large sizes ranging from XXS to 6XL because they believe that sustainable fashion should be for everyone.

We see that there are different sustainable brands run by women that are succeeding and the fact is that women have been at the forefront of the ecological movement for years, it is not just about caring for the environment, in this area women are also concerned with ethical production, they make sure that the people who make the clothes receive a proper wage and are treated fairly. Many of these brands are completely transparent about how they make their clothes and the impact they have on the environment, they use organic cotton, recycled polyester and even strange things like pineapple leather, these are great, environmentally friendly materials. What I like most about these brands is that they are not launching a new collection every week nor do they encourage consumerism, rather they ask us to buy less and to use clothes for longer, the important thing is quality and not quantity and as I mentioned some of them recycle your old clothes to turn them into new ones through recovery programs.

The best thing is that we can all participate in this sustainable fashion trend, firstly we can buy sustainable brands, I'm sure you can find some in your country, secondly we should look after our clothes, wash them less and repair them when they get damaged, we can also take them to a dressmaker to transform them, I've done it myself, I've turned dresses into skirts and also into blouses, you can buy second-hand or in vintage shops and rent for special occasions instead of buying a dress that you will only wear once, try renting it.

Just like these women who are leading sustainable fashion brands and showing that fashion doesn't have to be fabulous and environmentally unfriendly, we too can be part of the change, be sustainable citizens and buy what we really need. Let's not get carried away by the adrenaline of a sale, I ask you, how much clothes have you bought that you haven't even worn? I confess that I have done it many times, so the next time I go out shopping I hope it will be a sustainable brand.

Thanks @k4rl4
I don't give in on advertising and prefer quality clothing that lasts.
Most of my wardrobe are from Thrift shops, used but of good quality that are too good to be simply thrown away now have a place in my closet and dresser.

It's good to read this, you are one of those sustainable women who are not swayed by a brand or an advertisement, I also go for quality 😀 ✌️
