Japanese culture, friends, food and lovely moments || Ladies of Hive Community Contest #146

When was the last time you got out for the day and enjoyed being with friends and doing something fun that you wanted to do? ❤️

Every Saturday of the last few months has been special and motivating, even if some were difficult or if the week had been exhausting, every Saturday I gathered good experiences that I will now keep in my memory as beautiful moments.

Hello to all the participants of this community, my name is Fernanda, illustrator and designer, and I would like to share this brief story with you.

I have been studying Japanese for a few years, however since the pandemic and since 2021 and 2022 were still years of recovery in many aspects, in my life and the lives of many, I had stopped studying it.

This year I decided to go back to class, which I accepted, and so I had reunions with my class friends and I also met new classmates.

In addition to that, after school it became common to plan some activity in the afternoon, just take walks before going home. These moments, although they seemed simple, were very motivating.

A good thing about studying Japanese, apart from learning the language, is that you also get used to understanding good aspects of their culture, like not giving up, always trying to improve and grow, and keeping our goals and desires alive.

Therefore, the first question seems very interesting to me: When was the last time you got out for the day and enjoyed being with friends and doing something fun that you wanted to do?

It was something that hadn't happened for a long time, but definitely after the pandemic, the desire to be able to take advantage of every moment we have, in a place, with a special person, with friends, grew in me even more... Every moment is unrepeatable and our time in this world is very limited.

That's why every Saturday afternoon when I went to class, it helped me to be able to appreciate each moment, I noticed how they gave me energy to be able to deal with my problems and fears. And it helped me take risks and believe in myself more and understand that we must value our life and take advantage of it. For example, being with people you appreciate, telling them and showing them how important they are; eating together, talking, discovering new places, having fun...! Understand that every second we spend alive will not happen again and see that as an opportunity.

Perhaps what we experience is not always good, but when you stay present, any moment can be special.

Por ello la primera pregunta me parece muy interesante: When was the last time you got out for the day and enjoyed being with friends and doing something fun that you wanted to do?

Here´s my gallery from those Saturdays!

We made this in class, these are wishes that you write on small pieces of paper and then tie up to a bamboo. It´s a Japanese tradition that´s celebrated on Tanabata Day. The story behind this celebration is beautiful, please look it up. My wish is written on pink paper.

IMG_2772.jpeg
The was on the same Tanatabata, where you can make a paper crane that you can tie up to the wish. Our teacher made these for us, which was so sweet! And my friend made a small doll lol.

IMG_3064.jpeg
This is part of what I learned this day! Intransitive verbs.

IMG_0532.jpeg

One of my classmates loves plushies and brings a different one to each class... This was a Digimon character. Digimon is an anime from the 2000s.

IMG_7937.jpeg
Here are two plushies, a Naruto one (from the anime Naruto) and a Demogorgon (from Stranger Things), this last one is mine 😅.

This waffle was so delicious.

This Saturday was my first time going to the wedding celebration of a close friend.

And I caught the bouquet! That was so funny.

This time I joined some friends that play Magic The Gathering, a popular board game. It´s very hard for me to play, but I tried. 😅

IMG_8696.jpeg

And finally, I won! This game´s called Mario Party. I got first place as the Character Yoshi. 😊

IMG_7926.jpeg
I visited a good friend who also loves games, anime, and movies and it was so cool. This photo is funny. 🤣

IMG_1609.jpeg
This is a very tasty smoothie from a shop that I discovered with a friend, and now is one of my favorite things to drink. 😙

IMG_2277.jpeg
I tried these burgers with a friend. The taste is amazing and very fresh to be fast food. Very good! I tried a lot of things for the first time these days.

More movies! Super Mario Bros this time.

IMG_0585.jpeg
We watched Suzume as well. It´s a beautiful film.

IMG_9528.jpeg
This is a dish called Okonomiyaki, it´s so good! A friend bought me this as a gift for my Bday. We were at a Japanese festival.

IMG_0817.jpeg
These are Arabic desserts. I enjoyed them a lot. They are small but very very sweet, so it´s the perfect size. 😍

IMG_1686.jpeg
On this day I celebrated a friend's birthday by eating Chinese food. Then we went to the cinema to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. 💛

IMG_0536.jpeg
We went to a Japanese restaurant to drink Sake, and beer and to eat some Ika rings (fried squid) and Okonomiyaki.

IMG_0538.jpeg
Cheers! Or as they say in Japan... Kanpai! (カンパイ!) 🤗

IMG_0540.jpeg
Itadakimasu!

IMG_1474.jpeg
This is Luna, and she´s a spoiled dog, but I love her 😄. She always makes me feel better, look at her eyes!

IMG_8021.jpeg
First time drinking mojitos. Very tasty, then we went to the movies to watch Pussy in Boots 😂. Good.

IMG_0889.jpeg
⚡️ I and a friend went to this small Arcade in a mall.⚡️It was funny that these attractions are very outdated, but they still work. It´s not a vintage place lol, it´s just that they have old games.

IMG_0891.jpeg
I lost in this game, I wasn´t too fast lol. 😞

IMG_0888.jpeg
I lost on the one too hahaha, I´m so bad at games I just can laugh at it. 😎 But it´s so cool that these are Japanese games!

IMG_0883.jpeg

IMG_8618.jpeg
Another plushie! This is a character called Inosuke, from the anime Kimetsu no Yaiba.

IMG_7945.jpeg
These are gifts from my classmate, she´s so nice to me and makes me feel special. She´s super sweet.

IMG_1366.jpeg
We ate so much sushi! 🍣😌 Here, about to go to a small convention for anime fans and cosplayers.

IMG_1385.jpeg
At that convention, I got matched Pokémon necklaces for me and one of my dearest friends from class.

I have a lot of photos, not a lot of me cause most of all are of the things that I do, the things that I see... There are like a collection of memories. And it's cool to review my phone gallery and remember those good moments that I often forget. But I'll keep them here ❤️, always.

Thanks for reading

So cool that you're able to meet up and hang out with your class friends!
And amazing, I love all the plushies! The Kimetsu no yaiba plushie was incredible!
How did you find out about the anime convention? I want to go to one as well!
How is it being a Japanese language student?

Hello!! Thanks for reading!

Yes, it has been very good times. And I didn't take photos of every day but I still have so many photos 😅. And about the toys, well, my classmate had a different one in each class. I guess she has a Lot of plushies 😆.

And I also love the kimetsu no yaiba one!!! My favorite is Inosuke, he's the one with the wild pig mask, very cool.

About being a student I can say it's one of the best things I've done. I met my best friends, and the best teachers who told me a lot of values and great things, not just the language, and I can use that in my daily life.

It’s by no means an easy language to learn, but that also forces you to do your best and is very inspiring.

Thanks a lot for reading and commenting. 💕

Wow, that's a lot of photos. You certainly are into Japanese culture.
My son just came back from visiting a friend in Japan.
