This week is a fun little new experience for all Splinterlands players and the whole community. We're also going to be celebrating the Bitcoing halving event along with others. This time, the Splinterlands team prepared a very fun event where not only players and investors will enjoy but also earn.

In order to commemorate the upcoming Bitcoin halving on April 24th, 2024, the Splinterlands team revealed an exciting and special halving event! The event began last Tuesday, April 16, 2024, a few days before the actual halving event.
During the 15-day event, players have a chance to purchase two limited edition promotional cards with DEC tokens or Credits. The prices can be reduced by up to half with the use if Voucher tokens.

The promotional event features two limited edition promo cards: a legendary one, Baron Fyatt and a rare one, Henchling Enforcer. Both cards are dual-element monsters with the Halving ability, the former being Fire and Death, while the latter being Life and Water.
The prices for the two cards are 31,250 DEC/Credits for the legendary card and 3,125 DEC/Credits for the rare card. The pricing is to commemorate the soon to be halved Bitcoin block reward of 3.125 BTC.
Each card purchased has a 4% chance of being Gold Foil.
Players can earn points for each DEC/Credit spent buying the promo cards. After a certain amount of points were earned, this will give you a chance to win one of multiple available prizes, with the most points earned winning the guaranteed leaderboard prizes.
Players receive 1 point for each DEC/Credit spent but no points for voucher discounts. During the first day of the event, players will receive a 3x multiplier for leaderboard points when spending tokens, with the multiplier decreasing daily until the last day when no multiplier is provided.
These are the rewards Splinterlands prepared for the Baron's Bounty event:

Players will be eligible to win one of the possible prizes for every 10,000 points accumulated through the purchase of the promo cards during the event. A 3x multiplier is provided on the first day, giving the player 9,375 points after purchasing the rare promo card for 3,125 DEC, short of 700 points for the required minimum. The multiplier reduces day by day, reaching 1x on the final day of the event. The earlier you join in, the higher the points you will gain for the same cost.
In addition to the random prize draws for every 10k worth of points accumulated, there will be prizes awarded to players who gained the most points during the event. Below will be the possible titles you can get beside your in-game name for joining the event:

The titles above were first awarded during the Burning event from last year that you can still earn through this Halving event and probably in the future.
Besides the titles, people in the top 20 leaderboard spots will receive the following guaranteed promo cards, in addition to the ones they purchased during the event. Notice that players will get a single pre-combined card, based on the BCX in the following table:

The Splinterlands Baron's Bounty event is a really good idea. I like these very special occassions and having some cards to commemmorate them gives them more meaning. Having this Baron's Bounty even reminded me of that Pikachu Illustrator card that was a prize for a competition for the contest held by CoroCoro comics during 1997 and 1998. The said reward card was bought at 2022 for a whopping $5.275 million dollars. While I am not saying that Baron Fyatt and Henchling Alchemist may end up like that someday, the two cards are still a commemorative piece for this bitcoin halving event that will not happen again in the future. There would still be a Halving event but not for 3.125 BTC.
While I don't want to be negative, I still need to be honest in my articles and I would say that the naming and abilities could be better. While I do like the event's name, "Baron's Bounty," I would not say the same for Baron Fyatt since whenever I read it, I can't shake my mind for calling him, "Baron Gyatt." What "Gyatt" means... Well, just google it. Don't worry. It's not something lewd... maybe?
I also don't like the extra rewards. I like that they put in the points system but having a previous card pack as a reward will surely affect the price of the previous cards. The more supply we have on cards, the lower the price on them and as of now, well, let's just say that almost all cards are quite low in price and this event will only make it lower. I hope that on the next event, the devs could think of rewarding the players who buy the event cards with another way. Maybe it's time for Splinterlands to make a new pack or Series that you can only get through event rewards or buying cards using the Glint store.
In other words, the reward could be something like the Soulbound rewards series but not soulbound, cards that are not in any other series and can be obtained by playing the game or through events or players who got them but want to sell it. Using that idea, Splinterlands can inflate that series and every event rewards will be that series only. That way, having events like this will not deflate the price of other cards.
That was just an idea but other than my minor suggestion, this event was a blast. I hope we see more fun events in the future with high quality card art like this.
