Ten hours of fasting while 24 weeks pregnant? Glad successfully made it without passing out, OGTT test.

In my decades of living, I was never confined at the hospital due to health issues which I am very thankful for. Injections, blood extraction was hard for me. Seeing a syringe about to be prink on mine makes me like passing out. Good thing I tried my best to overcome it and joined bloodletting events. Or else it would be a huge problem of mine at this pregnancy journey of mine.

Since I am already in the 24th week, my OB-gyne required me to check my blood sugar , OGTT - Oral glucose tolerance tests. As it says 6-9% of pregnant women develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy. (Source) Sad to know, having this issues could add risks, that is why I am little bit nervous thinking of several what if's.

I even checked symptoms and felt relieved upon realizing big chances I am NOT!

Since the clinic opens at seven in the morning I went there early for two reasons. First, to be done early and be back in the office at ten in the morning and second, I am STARVING! The first blood extraction requires eight hours of fasting.

Just easy for others but to us pregnant ladies? It wasn't!

Lucky me as I am the first patient at the lab! Just a few minutes and the first blood extraction was done.

Success, and I like the nurse today as she had good hands! Didn't felt paine.

After, she gave 50 grams of glucose to be drunk. Then the one hour timer starts before the second extraction. Was it sweet?

OH, It was! Like drinking literally diluted sugar. Thankful as somehow it had flavor and it was chilled. That helps me a lot to bottoms up!

Usually at this hour past seven I am done eating breakfast. Yet today, I had to endure this. While sitting at the corner overheard the nurse approach one patient and says;

Sir, your package included free breakfast. What would you like to order?

Patient: Just Jollibee chicken joy, fries and one large pineapple juice.

Hearing that made me swallow hard as if I could smell the delicious aroma of the foods he mentioned.

To divert my attention, I just scroll on my phone and thank goodness! An hour had passed!

Two done! Just one more hour and I could finally eat!

Just took few selfies perhaps to look back someday of this experience

Finally! At 09:3 I am DONE! Even told the nurse that it seemed I no longer had any energy left after ten long hours of fasting, not even a drop of water!

My vision was almost blurry and my legs were shaking while going down the stairs. In times like this, I wish my husband was here with me. To hold my hand, assist and console me. Yes, he does via chat and calls but physical gestures would be better. I would be a liar if I would say seeing pregnant couples doesn't affect me. Of course I felt jealous and sometimes pity myself for going in prenatal check ups alone .

I know he also felt the same way, he is sad for not being here and experiencing our first pregnancy. As much as we wanted to be together for now, we can't! So much to be considered! For now we both need to sacrifice.

Saved by 7/11 just a few walks away as I am really on the verge of passing out .

They are now selling ready to eat, just heat foods. Surprise as there was even pork liempo It was grilled yes and with sauce as what we Filipinos used to; soy sauce with Philippine lime.

But bananas were expensive here, a piece cost P23 or $0.41.

As I finished eating that fast, I walked back to work at ten.

The result?

My appointment scheduled to the OB_gyne will be next week but looking at the results, I can say it was good. Right?

Though I am not sure if there are still chances to spike up in the next months.

Any thoughts Ladies? Your comments are highly appreciated. Also HAPPY WOMEN"S MONTH EVERYONE!

Buti nakaraos ka na! Di ko matandaan yung lab test ko din during pregnancy tinanong ako last food intake ko tapos nung nagcompute na over daw yung oras ng fasting so pinabalik ako next day tapos dapat nasa oras talaga yung fast, hahahaha saklap, pagutom ulit, take 2 😆

Napataxi nga ako Ng araw na Yan, kasi hirap sumakay baka maoverfasting 🤣

Another pagutom, naku baka himatayin na ako

I dislike needles as well. I have to admit I felt your experience seeing your arm out with the taped wrapped cotton ball. Many rip that off right away, me it stays on until it falls off 😂 There's been a few times I have nearly passed out giving blood.

Take care and hope everything goes smoothly the rest of your pregnancy 😊

Haha so I am not alone 🤣
Just sometimes when the veins is hard to find, then more struggles 😬

Thanks, I am praying for that too.

You know it's very funny how I dislike the hospital and everything about it aside from the selfless sacrificing and caring nurses and doctors,But particularly the drugs, the smell, the syringe and still want to be a medical doctor🥺. I hate drugs I hate syringe. To a point that I pray and have faith hoping that I'll be fine. Funny ain't it.

Congratulations on your God's gift
The baby is u're going to be pretty, strong and resilient because the mom is all of that and more
I pray for a safe delivery ma
Congratulations once more

Hehe, I guess most of us hates how hospital smells
