Can you share a little about your background and how you discovered Hive?
I am Pravesh, a Computer Science graduate from India who came on this blockchain almost three years ago and during this time I made a lot of friends and grew both as a person and as a writer.
I love technology and knew a bit about cryptocurrency in late 2021. One day in November 2021, when a lot of cryptocurrencies were booming, there was a lot of talk about decentralized games. I decided to search which are the most popular blockchain games and found Splinterlands among the search results. I looked at the game and liked it very much. From Splinterlands Discord someone told me about the HIVE blockchain and that's how I discovered HIVE.
How do you balance your interests in travel, photography, gaming, and art? Do you have a favorite among them?
I love to travel and explore this beautiful world. If I had unlimited resources (time, money et) I would never stop travelling... and most of my other interests would be sidelined. But fortunately or unfortunately I have limited resources and in my free time, I love to play games. How do I balance all these? Well, some of the games I play are based on real places and playing those feels like going on virtual tours where you can also take in-game shots (which helps in some aspects of photography too). And art is everywhere around me. I am more of an admirer of good art rather than a creator of it unless you can call my posts works of art...which they are not...lol
You’ve shared a lot of gaming-related content. Is there a specific game or genre that you’re most passionate about and why?
I love open-world adventures, platformers and racing games. I love open-world adventures so I can go on and explore the vast virtual worlds. Platforms for their challenging gameplay and racing games because I played a lot of racing games as a teen with my brother (we fought a lot too and since he is not reading this...I was always better than him at these games).
If you could be a character in any video game you’ve played, who would you choose and why?
I would love to be a space explorer like the protagonist in "No Man's Sky". The game tells you nothing about who we are, we just wake up on a planet in a random galaxy and visit different planets, gather knowledge about the universe, warp to nearby stars and find the meaning of life. It is a beautiful game too. Highly recommended.
Can you tell us about some of the projects you’re currently involved in, either on Hive or outside of it?
I am involved in a lot of communities on Hive.
TheTerminal - I am a staff member in @theterminal discord, where the goal is to help newbies on Hive. It is one of the most helpful servers for a newbie, I have learned almost all the things about Hive from being here and asking questions. Other members of this server are veterans and know a lot more about Hive and helping people for a long time.
Hive Gaming - I am a moderator and a curator in the Hive Gaming community. I am quite active in this one and working as a curator for OCD for the same community.
IndiaUnited - I am one of the core members of IndiaUnited community. I help teach new Indian authors of Hive how to be more successful and make a brand here. I helped with starting a weekly contest in this community which is run by @bhattg now (such a hardworking guy).
Ecency - I am one of the moderators in Ecency Discord. Also, I used to run a weekly live show on Discord a couple of years ago interviewing some influential users of Hive.
Other than these I perform some small roles in various discord channels. But most of the time I love to help newbies with their questions.
What has been the most memorable experience you’ve had interacting with the Hive community?
There have been a lot of memorable experiences. I will share a few of them. I won the badge for the post with the most upvotes of the day and it made me feel so good. Also, I made some good friends on this platform right from the beginning, I had a lot of fun with them both on Discord and in the comment section.
I found my love here on this platform (this should have been the first thing, I hope she won't read this...hehe). What more can you ask from it...eh?
What’s one challenge you’ve faced while growing your presence on Hive, and how did you overcome it?
Probably not having any connection or knowing no one before coming to this platform. I had no idea whom to ask for help, what to do and how to learn more about specific things. If I had a friend who knew things about this platform I didn't have to learn everything on my own. But I am a quick learner, especially if I get interested in something so I learn a lot of things quickly. @theterminal and @indiaunited helped me by answering a lot of my questions. Big shout out to both of these communities.
What advice would you give to newcomers looking to build a strong presence and following on Hive?
A lot of people will tell you to engage with others but it is not easy if you are doing it blindly. I would advise them to focus on niche communities where they are interested and interact with the users there. This way they won't have to force themselves to engage and their comments will be more valuable. Also, it will help you get more engagement on your post when you decide to publish in those communities. And do join the discord and hang out with people on the discord servers. It is probably the best way to network and gain your following on Hive.
Who else would you like to see spotlighted here?
I don't know if you interviewed @incublus yet. He is an admin of the Turkish community on Hive, host of a fun show in Ecency Discord and a really nice guy.
