How I Discovered Hive Blockchain and Why I Joined

in Ladies of Hive19 hours ago

Like many people, I had heard about cryptocurrencies some years ago, but I found it complicated to really explore and understand what it's all about. Due to its complexity and my low level of exposure then, I gave a friend some money to help me invest in crypto; perhaps I could earn through that means. Unfortunately, the friend disappointed me with many stories and made away with my money to date.

The experience made me lose interest in anything crypto-related, but one day, I decided to check on my cousin, kenechukwu97, and know how life was treating him after he graduated from the university. We got talking, and in the process, he told me that he stopped job hunting and he is on Hive Blockchain writing and earning. Then, I just gave birth to my last baby and am currently at home nursing my child. My cousin, kenechukwu97, didn't hesitate to send me the Hive account creation link for me to join, as it's something that would help me as a stay-at-home mom.

At first, I declined because I am never a writer, and I told him that I can't write more than 100 words, please. I didn't even make an attempt to create an account until a few months later, when he visited my home to see my newborn. There, he sat me down and began to tell me all I need to know about Hive and how I can earn crypto through writing even without necessarily investing with money like I did in the past with the friend who made away with my money.

There are some statements he made that ignited my interest to really give Hive a shot, and that was, "Aunty, you don't need to be a professional writer for you to join Hive; it's simply a platform to share your experience on anything at all. He went further to say that there are many communities on Hive, including the motherhood community, and I can even be telling stories about my motherhood journey over there". I was like, Wow, this is making sense now. Does it mean I can also read the experience of other moms and learn from them? I asked, and my cousin nodded in agreement.

He also told me that the platform can help me connect with many people outside my country and many more heads up he exposed me to prior to my singing in on the hive ecosystem. There and there, I was already feeling at home, anticipating the many goodies Hive has to offer, aside from the earning part, which is quite motivating.

What Made Me Join Hive

There was a shift in my mindset after the discussion I had with my cousin. First, I thought of belonging to a community where I could freely share my experiences on different things, get feedback from community members, read from their diverse experiences as well, and learn. This thought was fulfilling because my cousin explained how things work here to me ahead of time. Now imagine learning, earning crypto, and growing. It was like I won a lottery 😃, a nice combo, all on a platform. This information alone was enough to convince my spirit to join Hive, and yes, I finally made it here.

Secondly, he mentioned that a lot of people from different countries aside from mine are also on Hive, and it's an avenue to build relationships with people. One thing I have always loved is building connections and healthy relationships to aspire to growth, and fortunately, Hive has proven to be a perfect platform for that, and I am a living witness.

To also know that the Hive Blockchain offers true ownership, no censorship unlike what we see on centralized platforms like Facebook and others, made me really embrace this opportunity. A place I can freely share my thoughts, engage with others, and even monetize my content—what else do I need in a platform?

These are the reasons I joined Hive, and permit me to say that I was privileged enough to get to know what Hive is all about prior to getting my Hive keys. My onboarder did a great job, and it helped define my journey and helped me remain focused to date.

The journey so far, the experience, the growth, the earnings, and the genuine connections I have had over the years on Hive have been quite fulfilling. Through the Hive blockchain and through the contents of many authors on finance, I have learned more about crypto, something I saw as complex previously. I have been learning how to be a good writer, all from Hive, hahaha 😂. A lot about life in general has been learned, coupled with the earning; it's a win-win.

I love the fact that Hive values creativity and rewards engagement. I am really looking forward to more growth in the blockchain.
