What brings true happiness to me and how important it is to me to pursue it? If there is one thing I have always assured myself of, it is that I want to remain happy for the rest of my life irrespective of what happens to me or not. Is this truly possible?
How is it possible for someone who hasn't eaten since morning to remain happy? Of course, what he or she needs at that moment is food, and then happiness comes in after. How about someone who just lost a loved one to death, how does he or she stay happy? Depression. Anger. Sadness etc set in.
But amidst all of these life's uncertainties, I have come to understand one thing: Happiness is a choice and it comes from within - the mind. This is why we must make sure our minds are free from anxiety, worry, life's unfairness etc.
Every day, I try to stay conscious of myself, making sure nothing distracts me from keeping my mind positive. If I have a family that loves and cares for me. If I have trusted friends who show me love and I can see a new day, then this is true happiness for me.
The mind is so powerful. It can harbour the good and bad parts of life, so we must make a choice which part should occupy our mind. Whatever we allow into it is the reflection it brings out for us. When we embrace good thoughts, surely we will be happy and when we allow bad thoughts, it will affect us and ruin our happiness.
All I ever wanted is peace of mind and I am grateful to God for granting me this gift of peace where even though I have my worries, I still believe all will be well. I don't want anything to jeopardise my happiness because it will affect me greatly and bring me down from achieving what I have set for the day.
One of the ways I keep to my mind and allow the good thoughts is by reading the word of God as it helps to detoxify every bad thought in my mind, allowing the good ones to fit in, making me happy each day.
I chose to stay happy each day, so, I chose the part where I do not have to worry about anything because what will be will surely be. I have God who takes care of me and is always present to listen. This is my true happiness and it is so important for me to keep pursuing it.
In a world where most people measure happiness with external validation, material possessions, relationships, goals, careers, etc, all of these only bring a limit to one's happiness because it means an individual will keep jumping onto to the next line of action where one has been met and achieved. But true happiness lies in whether things go well or not for you.
This is one thing that can never stop you from being happy because you have trained your mind to accept whatever happens. Whether you are in a good relationship or not, you are happy. Whether the weather works in your favour or not, happiness still remains. Whether you achieved your goal in the week or not, it doesn't stop you from staying happy.
So, true happiness is a choice and this is something I am always working on so that I can get to that extent where I don't need to measure my happiness with external influence but should come from within - my mind. I have the choice and so is everyone.

Haha, I'm just messing with you. I absolutely agree with you. Your mindset to a large extent is what influences your happinness. I constantly remind myself of this lately and it has helped me stay unbothered about things that normally affected my mood. I have selected and redefined what things are important to me, and by doing that, a lot of the things that used to make me unhappy have become irrelevant to me now.

That's a good thing. We just need to always remind ourselves that we don't need to be bothered especially about things out of our control but to remain calm and patient even in troubles, it works so well like magic.

I also think that happiness is directly proportional to the peace you can feel and peace is found through your communication with God and when your thoughts, beliefs and actions are aligned.
