
Our concern for our health almost always begins with caring for our family. We always put others before ourselves. We are strong women, that's how we've been conditioned to be, to be present and not complain. Without a doubt, women are phenomenally strong.
This week on the Ladies of Hive blog, our friend @joanstewart reminds us how strong we are, and yet we are the link that takes the least care of ourselves. We overload ourselves with work outside the home, and when we get home, we continue with that heavy burden. It seems we're ashamed to ask our partner for help or simply sit down and talk about the balance of tasks we need.

This week: October is commemorated worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Mental Health Awareness Month. As November begins, have you taken a moment to reflect on your well-being? Please share how you feel in your current situation.
November isn't the only month that reminds us, through these campaigns, of the importance of taking care of ourselves, not only physically but also mentally. Everyone talks about the need for well-being and balance; the key is finding the means and tools to achieve it. Studies have shown that often the most boisterous person, the one who makes others laugh, is the one who needs help the most; they simply don't know how to express and ask for it.
Mental health requires tools to manage the problems that weigh us down daily. I've learned to find tranquility within my home, creating spaces that fill me with peace. Simply having a garden full of plants inside my home gives me the tranquility I need—what some call peace of mind.


1.Mental Health: Only about half of people describe their mental health as good, with difficulty disconnecting from work, etc. How do you cope in a constantly changing world?
Talking to yourself, talking to plants, or talking to pets is part of human nature; it simply relieves stress and allows us to disconnect from our daily work when we get home. The hectic world today simply drains our energy, so we need outlets. Many people listen to music while frantically cleaning the entire house. I believe that as long as we can function in our daily lives, work, and home, we can say we have good mental health.

2.Household Responsibilities and Care: In many households, statistics on couples reveal that the woman continues to handle cleaning, childcare, assisting elderly relatives, and grocery shopping, while her partner happily shares the expenses. All categories, except the last one mentioned, exceed 50%, where women tend to remain homemakers. How are things organized in your home?
I am currently divorced and my children are adults, but I remember the time when I would come home from work as a teacher and all the household chores fell on me. I admit it was my fault; I wouldn't let anyone help me. The truth is, I didn't see that example in my parents, and yet I understand that it wasn't natural for me to shoulder everything. I think it took me a long time to understand that shared household chores greatly contribute to well-being.
Even today I still understand that no one will do the housework the same way I do, but letting the children do it their way, even if it's not perfect or the way I want it to be, can create a balanced home.

La preocupación por nuestra salud casi siempre comienza por cuidar la familia. Anteponemos siempre a los demás antes que nosotros. Somos mujeres fuertes así no han acostumbrado, a estar presentes y no quejarnos. Sin duda las mujeres somos de contextura fenomenal.
Esta semana en las damas de Hive nuestra amiga @joanstewart nos recuerda lo fuerte que somos y al mismo tiempo somos el eslabón que menos nos cuidamos. Nos sobrecargamos de trabajo en la calle y al llegar al hogar seguimos con esa pesada carga. Pareciera que nos da pena pedirle ayuda a nuestra pareja o simplemente sentarnos a conversar en ese equilibrio de tareas que necesitamos.

Esta semana: Octubre se conmemora a nivel mundial como el Mes de la Sensibilización sobre el Cáncer de Mama y el Mes de la Sensibilización sobre la Salud Mental. Al comenzar noviembre, ¿te has detenido a reflexionar sobre tu bienestar? Por favor, indica cómo te sientes en tu situación actual.
No solamente noviembre es el mes que nos recuerda a través de esas campañas la importancia de cuidarnos no solamente nuestro estado físico, sino el mental. Todo el mundo habla de la necesidad de tener bienestar y equilibrio, el detalles esta en encontrar los medios y herramientas para hacerlo. Ya hemos visto a través de los estudios que muchas veces la más alborotadora, la que hace reír a otros es la que más necesita ayuda, simplemente no sabe como expresar y solicitar ayuda.
La salud mental requiere herramientas para manejar los problemas que nos caen encima a diario. He aprendido a buscar la tranquilidad dentro de mi hogar, haciéndome de espacios que me llenan de tranquilidad. Ya simplemente el tener un jardín lleno de plantas dentro de mi hogar me da la tranquilidad que necesito, eso que llaman paz mental.


1.-Salud mental: solo alrededor de la mitad de las personas describen su salud mental como buena, con dificultades para desconectar del trabajo, etc. ¿Cómo te las arreglas en un mundo en constante cambio?
Desde el hablar sola, hablar con las plantas y las mascotas es parte de nuestra naturaleza humana, simplemente nos alivia y nos desconectamos de trabajo diario al llegar al hogar. El ajetreado mundo actual simplemente nos agota las energías, así que necesitamos válvulas de escape. Muchos escuchan música mientras limpian frenéticamente toda la casa. Creo que mientras podamos desempeñarnos en nuestra vida diaria, trabajo y hogar podemos indicar que tenemos una buena salud mental.

2.- Responsabilidades y cuidados del hogar: en muchos hogares, las estadísticas sobre la pareja revelan que la mujer continúa con la limpieza, el cuidado de los niños, la asistencia a los familiares mayores y las compras para el hogar, mientras que su pareja comparte los gastos con gusto. Todas las categorías, excepto la última mencionada, superan el 50%, donde las mujeres tienden a seguir siendo amas de casa. ¿Cómo se organizan las cosas en tu hogar?
Yo en la actualidad estoy divorciada y mis hijos ya son adultos, pero recuerdo la época donde llegaba de trabajar como maestra y todas las tareas del hogar recaían sobre mi. Reconozco que la culpa era mía, yo no dejaba que me ayudara nadie. La verdad es que no vi ese ejemplo en mis padres y sin embargo entiendo que no era natural que me cargara con todo. Creo que me tomó mucho tiempo entender que las tareas del hogar compartidas ayudan muchísimo al bienestar.
Todavía al día de hoy he logrado comprender que nadie va hacer las tareas del hogar igual que yo, pero dejar a los hijos que lo hagan a su modo aunque no quede perfecto o como yo quiero que quede, puede hacer un hogar con equilibrio.

We go to work/busoness, go to the market/shopping ,cook, do house chores , give birth and even support financially.
