I promoted a post using ecency for the first time today, I wonder if it will get me new readers or followers, or more interaction, or maybe, none of these things. What are your experiences?
It’s somewhat random, but it can lead to more curation and more eyeballs depending on how long you go for.
For me I set it for 7 days each time.
There was a goober who downvoted one of my posts simply because it was promoted, nothing to do with the quality of the post.
Someone found his account, reported his “cutting and pasting” to Hivewatchers and he was downvoted to oblivion and put in the “bad actors” file.
shrug.
Perhaps it was justice
Definitely a form of karma.
Personally, I have used it twice or thrice. It didn't have much impact on my post. Well those were initial days.
I asked the same on peakd snaps, but I see people post the same content on waves and snaps, and other short form hive platforms. I like to browse each one, but I don't like seeing the same content on each one. Whats the solution?
I are you sure that these posts aren’t the same post just being shown through different front ends? I assumed that snaps was an umbrella term and waves and the others fell under that umbrella. My guess would be for Peakd to have an “Ignore Duplicates” option.
They're different posts, because peakd snaps has one main postz then every comment is a snap under. Waves works thr same way. So people are making the same comment under that thread or wave and it appears on both platforms, separately.
I only post via Ecency if you ever want to use that as a control.
Your posts aren't the issue :) Here is one example of someone sharing their post on Waves and Snaps:

They exist as different comments in different top level posts. I look at both "sides" so I see things twice :P Respect the hustle I guess?

And those posts are sort of a minute apart unless there was a delay between your screenshots.
I mean, its a comment, technically speaking - under a top level post, but it is a trend that I am increasingly noticing. I suspect it may have to do with people wanting to get rewards from comment rewarder (where it is turned on) - more than once, or perhaps they are just .. 1/2

Peakd has a function that aggregates the short form content in a single view. So no, I have seen it on snaps, but I can see and interact via peakd.

Is it just me who thinks world has changed since Covid/lockdown times?
It is about then when the great enshittification began. Nothing has gotten better since then :)

This “social media ban” for under 16s is related I am sure.
I wrote a post on how Art is a Threat - you might have already seen it, but social networks, too, are a threat. They are increasingly becoming more and more controlled - but I argue in my post that Art (and some commenters extend the argument further) - makes people uncomfortable for all the right (and wrong) reasons - its all perspective :)
There are hierarchies and there are networks. Networks are always a threat to hierarchies and vice-versa.
Since the Covid, world is just full of chaos. There is poverty, inflation, and wars. Sometimes, I feel like it's me who has grown up, but nah man.
