Google PlayStore: update is taking longer than usual.

Note: APK file is unoptimized version and size is bigger: ~22.3 MB.

Glad Esteem develops so fast! Using desktop version for few days already, amazing how it is so fast working, much faster than good old Surfer. And now mobile! Writing this comment from recent build downloaded from github. Gonna test it heavily.
I can say the same about the desktop version. The eSteem Surfer 2.2.5 works great on my desktop PC on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS. I have not tried the new version on mobile so far.
By the way, eSteem Surfer just been renamed to Esteem Desktop :) much easier to understand and remember IMO...
So happy to get this update. Iβm headed to the App Store to update now. Thanks for the continued development!

There is no upgrade in playstore in mobile esteem, it's still like before.
You need to download the esteemapp apk file from github
For Android we are waiting PlayStore approval but you can download APK file directly, check link in bottom of post

Fully on Hive! Practically desktop app can still connect to steem, but that's until some breaking change and then won't work properly.

are you going to rebrand esteem?
We see no reason to right now, Esteem is generic english word. We did change from eSteem to Esteem, previously it was focusing too much on platform
steem, but we think we can now push our own name and promote it better than before. We have changed logo and name slightly, we will continue to listen what community says and improve branding when necessary. We could rebrand and have 2 copies of app, but we don't see any reason to duplicate work and support dying chain, so we moved completely.good stuff!!
So can you confirm that it will no longer be connected to the STEEMIT user but to HIVE?

So, to get this update, I can delete/ uninstall the app on my phone and reinstall it via the AppStore? Will my data be restored upon reinstallation? Iβm not familiar with GitHub at all.
AppStore (iOS) shows updates or usually they do auto update to latest version. During updates your data will stay, BUT if you delete app and reinstall, it will clear app data.
I'm still curious as to how the leaderboard stats are tabulated.
With Activities performed through Esteem. I am sure with time you will get grasp of activities and ESTM points earning on Leaderboard stats

Why is your name still "esteem"? "ehive" goes better.
Because we "esteem" - respect and admiration to our users, supporters. It is English generic word means quite a lot and still represents our vision. Steem is not part of it. It just happens to be part of english word esteem but nothing more, not related anymore.
