Easy onboarding has its own challenges especially free and instant and blockchain namespace accounts like Hive has.

We want to bring more people on Hive and make it easier to get started with blockchain. But there will always be some people with ill intention, want to spam, identity thefts, plagiarists, etc. Onboarding real passionate users is important while making sure abusive cases are caught and limited.

Faucet improvements

Yesterday, our signup faucet was a target for abuses. Although we had very reasonable checks before approving new account creation, looks like people found a way to go around it.

After initial report, we have implemented more stricter rules to make sure real users can create account. We will continue to learn by iterating process and improve. New system seem to be working quite well and we are keeping an eye on service.
