Went for coffee, found horses

in Art Talklast month

As I arrived earlier at my work (actually at the town where we used to live before we moved) I got those 30 extra minutes to acquire a cup of coffee. Perfect! Much more relaxed way to start the lessons. The closest place was the cultural centre; there I could find the coffee machine and serve myself the enchanting horses...

...what? Horses?

I went for coffee, not for horses, but the poster hanging on the exhibition hall door won this time.

In fact, that lady won over coffee, the artist whose works I could see today, Monique Neyzen.

There is one word that could summarize her works - movement. These horses, the main topic of her exhibition were in movement. I could see them everywhere: on the stands, framed on the walls, but also almost flying.

Doesn't it seem to you that this horse is flying towards its star, determined and elegant?

Okay, here is the whole picture of this work. It was labelled with the number 22, so I checked later in the catalogue of the artist. It was a sculpture made of bronze called Spirit.

1000007485.jpg

Later I spotted a few more horses with a similar attitude, having that spirit and energy to jump, to fly...

Galloping is also a good choice... Who knows how many tribes have galloped from distant lands to some new continents, to new areas? All with the help of these noble, wonderful animals.

There were plenty of paintings and drawings in the exhibition, even though I found more interesting the sculptures. That's why I didn't take many photos of the framed works on the walls, just a few.

The reflection transformed this golden horse into a unicorn?

1000007481.jpg

The artist, Monique Neyzen said a few words about her exhibition. I could read her words there, in the catalogue:

I just love horses! I enjoy riding horseback and like to watch horses: their power and elegance, and how they move is special. Horses are a favourite subject and movement is my central theme. I try to capture that or interesting lines and shapes.

1000007484.jpg

We can notice that the majority of the sculptures are made of bronze, which is probably her favourite material but I see she also combined the bronze horse sculptures with wood or stone.

This little one is just super cute:

In the end, I got myself a cup of coffee, but just after this little tour through the enchanting horse sculptures. Let me know which one is your favourite work.

This refined sculpture is my pick.

What a nice accidental experience.

I like the ones that appear to be in action.

Those are nice surprises we get in our daily life, right? :)

Action horses 😁

Oh my, what a lovely exhibition of horsey horsey 🤩, yep, the artist has so much love with horse, that much we can tell 😻😻✨. And to sculpt them in different design, for sure she interact a lot of times with different horse. What a way to show love for the lovely horse ❤️❤️😻. I can't really choose just one favorite, I like all of them ❤️❤️😻

It is true that the artist loves horses, and to be good at something, for example, painting horses or making sculptures you have to know these animals well, to spend time with them. She definitely did that ;)

Great post, and great photos, too ! My favourite is definitely the one in your second photo, it looks like the horse is launching itself out of the rock and into flight 😀

Thanks, @alonicus ;)
That horse on the second photo is great! 🐎

Maybe all these horses are aiming to become free, coming out from the bronze or rock ;))

Horses are one of my favourite animals, I love to see them in so many different ways.

My pick:

Nice and cute your pick 😇

So this publication I take it for me, for me and for me hahaha what a beauty really, I looked at each one both sculptures and paintings and drawings and s maybe became unicorn and magical being... what can I tell you all I like although this one catches my attention, but the bronze ones are wonderful all of them. Thank you very much!

You have a good artistic eye, so I believe the one that caught your attention is special and valuable. And yes, I remember you love horses 😇😉

One of your publications that I liked the most, thank you!😘

I'll keep this one simply because of the meaning you managed to give it and honestly it generates the same feeling in me: flying!

Am I crazy? I don't know haha but that feeling of wanting to fly can't go away and this sculpture can easily represent me ✨

Flying owls, flying horses, flying sculptures :)) oh, flying me too, from one place to another. Thanks little owl for choosing your favorite one ;))

Beautiful exhibición! I love horses they have very esthetics form , I used to draw them maybe after this I come back to draw something with this theme again 😁 thanks a lot señorita mi piano de los caballos y cafés jjj

That would be great if you would draw again horses. Maybe lizards or cats too? 😉

How are you? The latest hurricane in your country is over? I hope it didn't make a lot of damage! Gracias señor Puma 😁

Well I've been 6 day without electricity 🤦🏻‍♂️ I'm getting crazy here, I hope today before midnight they might fix the wire that brings the thing to my house , crossing my fingers 🤞

Are you and your family ok after the all thing with the weather? I hope so 🙏

That's terrible. I am crossing my fingers too for you so electricity arrives at your home 🤞

Son went back to Valencia a few fays ago but they started with the lessons just this Monday. And he says tomorrow no lessons again as - alerta roja por nueva DANA

My goodness! 😱

People who love horses then this place is special for them. They will be very happy to visit here and see so many different things about horses. I also like it all.

El caballo es un hermoso animal...se le a recreado mucho en el arte...

What a great experience you had in that museum, how interesting the experience of that artist and his relationship with the horses, I hope you have more opportunities to enjoy the works of art. Thanks for this post.
