Art Talk: Old Friends at the National Gallery of Art in DC

in Art Talk2 months ago (edited)

Last month I was able to go to one of my favorite places-The National Gallery of Art in DC. I was in DC for three days and went to the museum each day. On the second day I saw a lady who had also been on a tour with me the day before. She said that she really likes the National Gallery and comes every opportunity and goes and see her "old friends". Wow! that is what I do too. I wander this museum that is so familiar and comfortable to me and go and see my old friends.

Let's start with two of my favorite sculptures

Dutch artists are amazing

The scale of American artist, Albert Bierstadt is astounding.

I always have to go see John Constable! And I always want to go to England after seeing Constable.

I don't have a lot of knowledge about art even though I love it and I like calling myself an artist from time to time, but what I know is that I always appreciated it in all its forms. Some pictures might not say much to a few people while representing a lot to others, and this is a good way to realize how different from each other we are even if being connected by the same passion :)

Gabriel, that is so true, it is really quite amazing what art can say or not say to different people and even to one person as they see it again and again. Thanks for your comment and thoughts.

The pleasure was all mine. Hope you have a lovely weekend 😊

LOVE those Renaissance pieces, and the Botticelli!

Yes, they are awesome. And there are so many others I didn't add. A great Raphael.

It wouldn't let me put my picture.
Here is is from the Gallery. https://www.nga.gov/collection/art-object-page.26.html

Art is so beautiful and broad, it has changed so much with the evolution of man but it is still comforting to see a good painting appreciate all the details of how these great artists created an image with such accuracy, DEGAS's four dancers is one of my favorites of this sample.

Hi @ycarola Thanks so much for your comment and it is so fun to know your favorite piece in this group.

THE ART ARE ALL AMAZING, AND VERY CREATIVE

One of the aspect of life I really admire so much is the art work. It has so much of beauty and Diversification and at the same time It possess great uniqueness beyond which one can really handle

My favorite is the portrait of a stranger girl - Monet, Banks of Seine 😊

Artis who really work so hard to make such beautiful things and then put them inside the museum like this for us to see and learn about things like this every time we go. Our knowledge increases a lot.
