Another summer photo from my first boat trip around St. Petersburg. Isn't it amazing how different the photos can turn out depending on a) where you point your camera viewfinder, b) what lens you bring, and c) what kind of weather is kissing you from the sky - be it pale, diffused morning light, contrasty and hot midday, or even leaden-gray clouds and rain? That June day I was lucky - the sky was brightly sunny, and I even tried out my newly purchased polarizing filter (I must admit, it mostly lies at home collecting dust, alas... although it is a wonderful thing!)
To be brief, I looked at the city from a completely different perspective, and the novelty of this perspective even stunned me. I was pushing trigger and making captures almost non-stop! And now I'm afraid to approach this 10-Gb pile of files; choosing the best shots among equally good ones is not an easy task for me :)
In this photo, you can see that St. Petersburg is actually a port. Yes! It's not just palaces, museums, and oriental restaurants :)
Еще одна летняя фотография с моего первого путешествия на лодке вокруг Санкт-Петербурга. Разве не удивительно, какие разные фотографии могут получиться, в зависимости от того - а) куда ты наведешь видоискатель камеры, б) какой объектив ты взял с собой, в) и какая погода целует тебя с неба - будь то бледный рассеянный утренний свет, контрастный и жаркий полуденный, или вообще свинцово-серые тучи и дождь? В тот июньский день мне повезло - в небе царило яркое солнце, и я даже попробовал использовать мой свежекупленный поляризационный фильтр (должен признаться, что в основном - он лежит дома и собирает пыль, увы... хотя вещица это замечательная!)
В общем, я посмотрел на город с другой стороны, и новизна взгляда меня даже ошарашила. Во время всей поездки я фотографировал непереставая! а теперь боюсь подступиться к этой куче фотографий, выбрать лучшее среди одинаково-хорошего - непростая задача для меня :) На этой фотографии вы видите, что Санкт-Петербург - это на самом деле порт. Да! это не только дворцы, музеи и рестораны восточной кухни :)

Nicely done! What an interesting picture not only in the view, but the lighting. At first glance it's just a port with all of the standard cranes, but it's interesting in the details and balance. Very well done!
