Replica of That Banana on the Wall

in Picture A Day5 months ago (edited)

I went to Penang four months back and went to various places for sightseeing. One of the places that I went to was the WOnderfood Museum. The museum is located in the Georgetown area, inside an old colonial building. The main attraction or exhibition is the replica of Malaysian traditional food.

Out of a hundred food replicas, this particular one that caught my attention is the replica of the controversial modern art named 'That Banana on the Wall'. It is an artwork by the Italian artist Maurizio Cattlelan.

The art basically just an overripe banana taped to the wall using grey duct tape. Sounds simple and it leans more toward parody than art itself. What surprises the people most is that the art was sold for more than USD100k.
