Getting back on the bike

Let's go for a bike ride to feel the breeze on the face and body, to once again breathe in the trees, grass, river and beach views in the light of the fading afternoon sun.

We only have the now, today. So, let's enjoy every moment and let's throw caution and reasoning to the wind, move the legs, pedal like the wind along familiar paths and new unridden roads. Remember, life is never meant to be taken for granted.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Taking the extraordinary Eleanor Roosevelt's advice literarily we put on our shoes and helmets eager to start pedalling.

Amazingly nature's slideshow met all expectations double times over. My eyes feasted on a multitude of wonderful sights filling me with the many different colours of the trees' green foliage, water, kangaroos, big football ovals and sunsets.

The paper bark trees standing like handsome soldiers in a row saluted and bid us good afternoon. How impressive they stood all in a row.

What a wow sight as I rounded the curve alongside the canal to the little footbridge. I saw light exemplifying the colours of the setting sun, highlighting the reflections of the bridge and house/trees on the water. So pretty, a spectacular sight to see and one that had to be photographed. I am always intrigued at how nature weaves its wand of light.

In comparison another photograph was taken very shortly after the bridge. In comparison to the darker light of the bridge scene. The next sight turned out to be a much lighter scene, to my sheer delight a family of kangaroos eating green grass for their dinner on a football oval. Unperturbed with the arrival of two bikes they continued eating in a most calm manner, obviously very comfortable with people.

Seeing a father and son playing ball, I imagined every afternoon these kangaroos watched football players practising the game. Why would they be skittish at a couple of bike riders stopping for a moment? They must enjoy the colours of the sunset every afternoon at this time.

Go to the viewing deck on the beach on your way home, come and check out the sunset over the ocean a voice whispered in my mind. Breathe in nature's beauty one last time before heading home, the pink colours over the blue ocean was as always too wondrous and pretty to miss.

Remembering my adventurous promise to travel along known and unknown paths and roads I headed to the beach to be greeted by a stupendous sight. It was one of those idyllic post card pink sunsets, a fitting end to a fabulous bike ride.

Thanks for coming along for the ride. It is a pleasure showing you my picturesque part of the world at the Sunshine Coast.

My post is dedicated to being home again after the busy hospital routine. Never again will I take good health granted. I learned that today is all we have so not wasting it is a new pledge to me.
