BABY BOOM

"How do you cope with 12 babies less than a month old?!"
"Thirteen babies. There's actually 13. We also adopted."

"You're kidding?"
"Nope. I don't kid about goats."

Curious (and lost) a flashy city vehicle had stopped to watch us to cross the farm road with our goats and their frolicking newborns. The questions came fast and furious. They expressed their city ignorance about farm life as well as basic biology.

"Yes, we do need a boy goat in order for there to be udders, which is where the milk comes from, and invariably, baby goats.... No, a brown goat does not give chocolate milk."

But; speaking of chocolate, apart from a month of baby goats being born, the cows also calved. So it has been a wonderful month of cute, cuddly newborns. Early morning milking begins the day as we slam into summer. We share with the babies which still means a lot of milk. Plenty milk means daily yoghurt and cheese making.

Watching our animals birthing never ceases to blow me away. It is one of those incredible experiences that is worth rejoicing over. With every, single baby born.

While cows only have single babies, goats generally have twins and triplets. This year there were two sets of triplets.

My matriach and her daughter birthed their triplets within minutes of each other with great jubilation from the entire Buckaroo clan.

Spring is my favourite time of year. Winter is gone - almost. Summer has not yet arrived - in all its fury. The mountains are lush. The bees, butterflies and sunbirds busily move among the blossoming fruit trees. Then, of course, my personal favourite. Baby everythings!!

So darn cute!!!!

Someone really asked if a brown goat produces chocolate milk? A child, I hope.

Well spotted! And yes, a child. If it had been an adult I would've been too embarrassed on their behalf to write about it

Manually curated by ewkaw from the @qurator Team. Keep up the good work!

Cuteness all around! Lovely pics :^)

Cute overload for sure! I love cuddling the little bundles

You must have a large tract of land in order to have so many animals that need to graze. The pics are fabulous with the last one worthy of a frame and a place to hang.

Chocolate milk from a brown goat makes all of the sense in the world. When you are still a child that's some rational thinking. You've got to love the innocence of children.

Yes! Exactly! The only problem comes in when someone wants a lime or strawberry milkshake. Or - gag - bubblegum. Imagine a blue goat.

Yes we do have a lovely size. It's not near farm size but definitely a very big homestead. Although most of it is mountain the fields and gardens we have sustain us - with a LOT of blood, sweat and tears. As I'm sure you can relate too

Blood, sweat, tears, and an occasional stiff back.

Ditto on the gag.

Total cuteness overload in the Spring, nice number of new born to take care of, life on a farm never easy hopefully plain sailing before the heat of summer arrives once again.

A total overload of cuteness. Sadly it hasn't been plain sailing as we have such bizarre weather and way too wet for our area. But that is part of farm life

Sudden cold snaps I know most farmers dread in calving season, hope it dries up in your region. According to the weatherman more on the weekend.

Yip. Already drizzling. Which doesn't necessarily mean rain but it's freezing again after a last week of summer heat

Little ones with cold spell need barns big enough to house them, sure you are well established to manage. This appears to be one that will move through over the next couple of days.

Absolutely! Plenty shelter and a mama to cuddle against

All of his baby animals are beautiful. I really like the last photo

Yes that last photo is adorable. Just inviting cuddles

So, so, cute kid goat, it looks absolutely peaceful like a lamb, I just love it, is it a he or a she?, Naturally, I love goats, they are my own pet animal and I have some because of it. Thank you for this amazing pictures.

Oh I absolutely adore goats. That little guy is a boy. We had 8 boys born and 4 girls. They're too sweet. Lovely to know you also have goats. They're amazing pets
