Full Sunday Nature Day

Hello Hivers hope everyone had a great weekend. I usually have two day weekends but this weekend I had much to do on Saturday. I had do my side hussle job to pay away on some debt that is very near, move some garden boxes, get ready for fishing trip, and mow both my yard and the moving neighbor's yard.

The garden boxes use to be my neighbors. They said I could have them. So I soon will be "Bob the Grower." It was 4 wheel barrows of soil I had to take out of them first before moving over to my house. Even doing that they still weigh close to 100 lbs. They also let me have a ton of fire wood, 4 more wheel barrows. That's not all of it I still have more to grab. There was no deal for me to mow there grass I did it for the offering of the boxes and wood. Attending to two houses is a lot of work it's the least I could do for them. I will continue to mow the their grass until the new neighbor moves in. The move in date isn't until the end of August.

So I did about 6 hours of delivery driving and about 5 hours doing everything else. It was about 7:00 p.m. when I started get ready to pack up for my fishing trip. I went to bed at at about 9:00 p.m. I was pooped. I got woke up at about 12:30 a.m. because my son was up to no good, teenagers. Got back to sleep at around 2:00 a.m. I was very disappointed I over slept and woke up at 8:00 a.m. This altered my plans because I was going to go river fishing. Instead I went to a pond than to a lake than back to the same pond.

My ideal fishing adventure is enjoying it with little or no one around. I arrived to this pond with hundreds of other people around. There was a youth fishing tournament going on. I fished for about 30 minutes or so. I didn't witness too many catching fish. When someone caught something it was like being in a bingo hall with someone yelling bingo on the jackpot. I did catch one fish and it felt like all eyes were on me. Not at all relaxing so I left the pond.

I decided to check out a mowed trail path nearby inside the park. It offered a lot of shade and a breeze came as I walked through it. That was refreshing even though this was probably the smallest trail I have ever walked. It offered a lot of greenery and I caught some wild plants and flowers. A quick 45 minutes of exploring than and I decided to drive to lake about 30 minutes away.

The drive took me further away from city life, leading to wide open land of fields. The Great Plains in Iowa have three main fields which includes soy beans, corn, and hay fields. Also in my state you will see thousands of wind mills. It's good to conduct an energy source that is clean and doesn't disrupt the environment. To the most part, the only buildings you will see in the wide open field environment is the farms of the people who grow these crops. Taking a flight on an airplane you will notice the ground below looking like a big multi color quilt.

I arrive at my next fishing destination. My first time at this place. It's a rather small lake but it's a little bigger than what I expected. It's a nice place well away from the city. I find it would be a nice place to camp at and get away to. Plenty of shoreline access to fish at. I like the jetties with picnic tables. A good place to put my gear and it served well later as I had my lunch on one. The lake is stocked with Crappies, Blue Gills, Large Mouth Bass, and Channel Catfish.

I didn't catch any lake monsters unfortunately but caught a few fish. Only caught 5 blue gills and one green sunfish. What you see are the two smallest ones and the biggest one I caught. I probably fished for about 2 hours in total.

After fishing I drive around the park to see what it all had to offer. I ran into two Eastern White Pine trees. These look so comfy looking as if you could lay in the branches and catch a nap. I found a narrow road that had plenty of forest that led to a simple rest area. Most places have only 1 maybe two fish cleaning stations, this place had three of them. I can't imagine seeing all three in use at the same time.

I left the lake and decided to go back to the pond I initially went too. On the way back I stopped at a gas station to get some more water and ice. Off to the side of the gas station over in the grass I take glimpse of some Rusty artifacts. There are 3 old farm tractors from the early 20th century maybe just prior that. If you take a stroll in the country you will see quite a few old pieces of farm equipment in people's yards. This is what we refer to as "Lawn Art" in the Midwest.

I arrive at my original destination and begin fishing. My first fish I caught was this small Large Mouth Bass. I ended up catching three more like this along with a handful of decent sized blue gills. I stayed here until mother nature decided to blow a thunderstorm storm in, which was close to 5:30 p.m.

I hope enjoyed my little encounter with nature and my weekend happenings. Take care, be safe and hope the rest of your week goes well.

All photos are mine and we're taking with my Motorola One 5G UW Ace smart phone.

The sights on that trip were great, the best thing in my point of view were the vintage vehicles on display.

Glad you like them, I couldn't pass them up. Love the rust and vintage look.

Free fish for dinner hehe...
There are fishing spots here too where people could catch some fish...
It reminded me of village life in our place.. We used to catch fish too when we were young.

Thanks Jane the fish I kept I gave to a friend :) I'll be going on 3 day fishing trip in about 10 days while I take some time off. Thanks for dropping by as always !HUG When's the last time you fished?

Seems like you have spent a great day out there. The sun's rays and the beautiful green looks amazing.

Thank you it turned out to be just what I needed. A little bit of traveling to get what I was looking for intially. Can't always settle for what happens initially.

Don't worry, enjoy in between, what works best for you.

The first site looks nice, but too crowded to relax fishing. On the other hand, the small lake looked like the perfect place. At the end of the day, It seems you had a great day fishing, I hope you enjoyed it.

It was enjoying and when I wasn't fishing I enjoyed the ambience of nature, no complaints. Thanks for dropping by :)

Strange year lawn wise. I have done nothing with it. No fertilizer and no spraying for weeds. I just didn't want to invest time and money in it. The strange part? My lawn looks the best it has ever looked in the 17 years I have lived here. Rain has been at levels slightly less than normal.

Oh the neighbor has lived here about 12 years. Friendly and good neighbor it's the least I can do for them. We have helped each other out numerous times. I hope the new neighbor is a good replacement. All I know it is a single girl aged 21 that use to go to the same school as my son, he's curious as to who, haha. Parents co-signed for her. Crossing fingers neighbor on other side of me is snobby and we don't really get along.

You have an awesome day as well 💙!HUG
