More pink clovers - Trifolium tomentosum

Here comes another pretty weed. Plenty of them around now before the summer dries them all up. Yep, another little clover.
It was growing in the same area as the previous one I was showing here.

Trifolium tomentosum

It is an annual plant that can be found in the warmer parts of Europe and North Africa. It does seem to like open, sunny spots and can grow in very poor soil.

The shape of the single little flower is very similar to the one from Trifolium angustifolium, but this one here is so much smaller! It stays near the ground nearly crawling on it while the previous one is standing tall with long, straight stems.

The clusters of flowers are quite small, smaller than the most common clover we can find all over Europe in the lawns.
Blooming starts in early March and can last until early July. The plant will continuously produce flowers and fruits on the same stem.

Cute eh?
I don't know what those little yellow ones are.

The fruits are quite funny looking and I am guessing they are the reason for the common name: Woolly clover.
Looking like little balloons I thought it was some spider, or other insect cocoon at first.

👍

this plant is very fresh, it seems the soil there is very fertile

The soil is very bad there. They don't mind :)

It is a pleasure to learn about these tiny wild plants from your photos.... Excellent all the images, but that first one of the publication is really eloquent and charming!...

Thanks! Glad it is not only me learning something new :)

I don't know what those little yellow ones are.

You know, as far as my education goes, they're probably more weeds.

(I'm not always very helpful)

And I think you are right! :D
Thanks :))

looks like rabbit paradise :) well atleast over here they always seem to enjoy clover :)
Have you managed to find a clover 4 already ?

Naaah I wasn't even looking. My niece found one once though.

Ahh yes, clovers! I love them and even seed them. They are nitrogen fixers and that is super important!

Pollinators love them too. Didn't know about nitrogen! Cool plant :)

The pictures of very beautiful plants that you have shared, the plants can thrive in that place so that they look so beautiful.

Thank you :)
