Hi all šš»
Today I want to share with you some photographs of one of my many walks through the countryside close to the Casita I lived in at that timeā¦ in IznĆ”jar, CĆ³rdoba province, Spain.
When I first moved to Spain from The Netherlands, I landed in the countryside of the town IznĆ”jarā¦ about 1 hour drive above MĆ”laga city.
I lived in a small casita (where the Mill worker lived next to his mill). When I started walking it was right in the middle of nature, not many houses around, just me and nature.
Olive trees, wildlife and lots of flowers during spring time.
The following photographs are taken in April and May 2015.
Location of the Casita (the yellow star) in comparison with the town of IznƔjar:
photo from Google maps
IznƔjar is across the lake over the bridge up the hill.
Not an easy drive up for my Classic Mini.
But letās go to the photos I wanted to share:
Enjoy š
Along the road:
Olive trees everywhere.
Some far away neighbours.
Views of the IznƔjar Lake.
Along the way I found these flowers and wild orchids.
Donāt these wild orchids not just look like little aliensā¦
With heads, a body, arms and legsā¦ wings even. Little faces looking back at you š
So many different kinds of flowers you find along the road.
Here I captured many at the same time, very close to each other.
I had to include another one of these wild orchids. The colours were just great, the brown and purple.
Here you see another kind of wild orchids.
This purple flower was just beautiful, purple is one of my favourite colours.
Another kind of wild orchids.
Letās go a little bit back to the garden of the Casita:
In my garden I would watch birds come and go from the terrace.
My biggest surprise one day, was to see a Golden Oriole. They tend to be very shy and fastā¦ but I could capture him this time after I heard him for days.
First he was in a large tree. Can you spot him?
Later a little bit closer by, he landed on the nispero tree/ Japanese loquat in English.
Here you can see him better.
Another time I encountered a large Praying mantisā¦ he or she wasnāt afraid and came up the bush and was watching me on the terrace. When I held my hand out. It came and walked right on it.
Do you see his headā¦ the faceā¦ how majestic it looks like š
I observed it for a bit and put it back in the bushes.
I had many encounters with wild life here in the countryside and found so many beautiful flowersā¦ and views.
I will show you more later š
Hope you enjoyed my photographs of this beautiful walk in this part of the world š¤© CĆ³rdoba province: The Iznajar countryside and itās wild orchids!

Thanks a lot @ewkaw š
They were everywhere around there. Before I lived there (in Spain) I never saw wild orchidsā¦ so it was a big surprise to find them, growing along side of the road were I lived for a while.

The Netherlands to Spain is a pretty big move and a big change I bet.
Nice photos. I like the olive trees especially. It reminds me of the Provence region of France.
Thank you so much @leaky20 š
Yes, it was a big move on my own. But soooo worth it 7 years ago. The culture is different but you can get used to it if you integrate.
I moved a lot in my live, over 30 times (I lost count after) and so far I lived in 5 countries. I was actually born in France. I will write a post one day about my moves šš and adventuresā¦
Nispero!!! One of my favourites fruits... a pity it lasts just for a short time and then I have to wait one year.
Soon, we will have them here around.
Huh, the photo of that Praying mantis is super! :) how peacefully it rests in your hand!
Yes, nisperos are great š to bad indeed from the short time available. When I lived up in the mountains I could eat manyā¦ now I donāt even have a garden hahaha so can only buy them.
Yes it was so calm, I could even sneak a photo in with my phone without disturbing it when I grabbed my phone. š they are cool little creaturesā¦
Yes, mainly I only buy them but I know where the "abandoned" gardens are š hahah, so yes, some are free :)))
That was a nice encounter then, if it was calm and not scared. Well, he could know you would not harm it.
Last summer I had a butterfly in my fingertips, it was there for some time...bit flew away but later it came back to my hand š¤© I was so happy! How a small creature, like a butterfly can make us feel great š
Great you know abandoned gardens š
So cute š¦ yesā¦ itās truly amazing when things like that happen. š„°
š¦ yes :))
oh and yes, around the same time also I "rescued" a small bird from the street, it was also calm in my hand. They just know that we love them :))
Gardens - be prepared, I am coming soon :D
Aaawww well done you, helping the small bird, they just know when you mean well š„°
Soon indeedā¦ š
Still green nisperos, but soon, yes, soon :))

Che posto meraviglioso!!!! Veramente stupendo!
Vorrei avere a casa tutte quelle bellissime orchidee!

Grazie tantissimo, sei molto gentile!
Buona serata anche a te
