All is peaceful and sublime here on our acreage in the boreal forest of Saskatchewan, Canada!
The leaves are just about out in full and makes for some lush green scenery.

In the garden more blooms are starting to open and there is a buzz in the air as numerous bees came to gather their nectar.

Along with the bees the butterflies are fluttering around too!

There are still a few birds coming to the feeder but I'm not putting out as much food for there is lots available and mostly they are busy nesting.
One of the regulars I see is the Downy Woodpecker, there is a pair of them which is nice to see!

At the mud puddle the barn swallow was gathering material for her nest.
We are fortunate to have a lake at the end of our road and I could hear the geese and loons calling from that area so I decided to see if I could catch some on the water.
Trail Leading to Lake
As we reached the opening of the lake there was that beautifully fresh green as the leaves on the poplar are newly opened.

I could see a goose standing on guard at the shore . He stood there for quite a while then went for a swim and got a drink of water.

Also on the lake was some mallard ducks.

The goose was not to happy to have some ducks coming into his territory (probably protecting his mate's nesting area!)

The ducks found another good feeding area and it was funny to watch them as they dunk their heads down in the water and their bottoms came up!

Have a look of them bobbing up and down feeding below...
One got really itchy and paused to scratch it's head.

I'll leave you with one last image of the evening sky with some interesting cloud formations above the towering spruce and pine trees.
I hope you got to take in some of the wonders of nature too this Sunday too!
This is my Amazing Nature Contest May #4 entry. See details here with #FeatheredFriends for @melinda010100 who hosts that community.
The photos were taken with my Canon PowerShot SX60 HS.
How Lovely!!! I love that woodpecker. I can hear them here, but can't see them - jamie saw a spotted one the other day and I am so jealous!
I often will here them in the bush and not be able to see them but there was a pair that has been coming to the feeder for most of the winter and because i still have a bit of feed out they are still coming around. I do enjoy watching them!
Keep your eyes pealed because they are in your part of the country although you may need some binoculars to spy them. Lucky Jamie!
Oh, we really wish we'd brought the binoculars on this trip. Instead we bought snorkels for greece, lol, neve rhappened
How gorgeous. You must be so happy Sprng is here. I can just HEAR the noise of it from here. Jealous of the woodpecker - I can hear them here but not see them. Jamie saw a spotted one the other day.
Beautiful entry again ^^ I suppose that the time of all the great snowy landscapes is gone for the now, also I really loved seeing the Canadian winter ;)
I love how your spring comes on! Here the squill flower and are gone long before the trees leaf out.
Mallards are such pretty ducks. :))
I liked the contrast in your opening photo, all the colors.
Beautiful photography @porters, reminds me of how long I've been away from scenery like this.
I really needed that walk with you out in nature, so pleasing to see life coming back into your region after the winter months.
Thanks for fabulous photography and details, it takes one on an adventure away from the calamity that surrounds us.
Glad you came along for the walk - isn't it wonderful how nature has a way of taking us out of the daily concerns!
I heard you are getting hit pretty hard over there. Any signs of it lifting yet?
Some are going back to work slowly, more on the 1st June with 60+ being asked to stay home.
Alcohol sales will be allowed from 1st June during limited hours for home consumption only. Tobacco still no sales allowed with illegal trade in both alcohol and tobacco booming... makes no sense in loss of tax!
No walking in parks or on beaches in sight will miss the annual Sardine Run which is now insight. Exercise only allowed between 6am and 9am currently, being winter not too many using this time out. From 1st June can walk local streets during the day which I don't do, still no parks or beaches.
School Grade 7 and 12 are supposed to be going back after 2 month closure on Monday, people have very mixed reactions, as they do about churches reopening restricted to no more than 50 gathering and no over 60's...
Aye! I would find that oh so hard not to be able to go to the parks or beaches when you have such beautiful ones there!
Slowly slowly!
We don't know if we will be back in the classrooms when school resumes after the summer break. I work in the schools (being paid to work at home right now) and we are told to just be prepared for the school to open at anytime during the school year and also close at any time if there is a second wave!
How are you personally handling this? Do take care!
One clings onto sanity watching the stupidity, each day becomes more surreal than the last. Otherwise still here one day at a time....
