Linao Cave, Eastern Samar | Travel Guide 2024

in Amazing Nature2 months ago (edited)

Linao Cave stands out as one of Guiuan's hidden treasures. A trip to Calicoan Island would be incomplete without experiencing the mesmerizing waters of Linao. My earlier blog on Hive covered Linao Cave, (Eastern Samar's Jaw Dropping Cenote - Linao Cave) but I felt it was time to provide an update, especially regarding the current prices, as there have been significant changes since my last visit.

One notable change is the requirement for a tour guide. In the past, both locals and tourists could explore the cave without a guide. However, today, even locals like us, who are familiar with the area and its trails, must be accompanied by a tour guide.

So, how much does it cost now? The rate depends on the group size. Larger groups are charged more. For instance, during our visit, our group of four paid 300 pesos for the tour guide and an additional 25 pesos per person for the entrance fee.

The starting point for the cave adventure has also shifted. Today, visitors need to head to Tomorrowland, just a few meters from the previous starting point. Here, you'll need to sign into the record book, pay the entrance fee, and then you'll be introduced to your tour guide and off you start your little hike in the forest to reach the cave.

I personally support the requirement for a tour guide. It aligns with the ecotourism goals of providing locals with livelihood opportunities. Additionally, having a guide ensures the proper care and maintenance of the cave, preventing it from being littered with garbage by unguided tourists.

No matter how many times I have been to Linao Cave, I am still amazed at how beautiful the place is at each visit.

These photos in particular were some of my favorites. No matter where I go, Linao is always something that I brag about to my friends who haven't been in Guiuan yet.
