Happy new month needle workers..

How exciting it is to know that we are already rounding off the year as we have stepped into the last month in 2025.

Every fashion designer will agree with me that, this is the busiest period as order keeps coming in ahead of the festive period.

I made a Two-piece in black for one of my lovely and returning client.

She added an award ceremony of her younger sibling. One thing I love about this client was her confidence. It's rare to see clients who are willing to rock a black on black fit.

Let me take you through the process of this lovely outfit.

Materials I needed to bring this design to reality are;

Pattern paper
Paper tape
Tape measure
Fabric 1 (liquid Mkiado)
Fabric 2 (striped velvet)
Airstay
Zipper
Disc (for embellishments)

Starting off, I drafted the clients fit on a paper using her accurate body measurements.

For the upper body, I used her hip circumference to get the block and then got her waist, bust , front length and back length.

I also did the same for the back piece using a basic neckline of about three inches in width and three inches in depth.

Then I transferred the pattern to the fabric. I used the liquid mikado for the blouse as seen in the picture.

I turned the neckline with the interfacing and facing to give in a clean finishing and I also joined the shoulder to shoulder, held the bust dart and pressed for the dart to sit properly.

After which I attached the zipper at the back and joined the side seams. Here is the disc I got for embellishments.

I got them in dozen.

I placed them on different angles of the blouse to see which gives a more luxurious look after which I settled for a particular place to fix it.

I began to hand tack them, one by one until I got the actual design.

Then I moved to the pants. I drafted the pants using her hip measurement, trouser length and waist. I did so first on a pattern paper and transferred it to the striped velvet.

Here are the bands and zipper fly I cut for the completion of the pants.

This is the zipper fly. I love to attach zipper fly to pants more than sewing zipper by the side as it gives it a more professional result.

This was when I was attcahing the zipper fly to the trouser. After which I joined the sides of the seam and hemmed the length.

Here is the finished look of this outfit, after I had added sleeves to the blouse.

I feel like a black on black fit is a must have outfit in everyone's closet. This color makes a statement and it's so simple and suit all skin tone.

This outfit is gorgeous in all its element. This is the full view of the outfit.
