Un nudo para empezar a bordar

Cuando iniciamos una manualidad juntamos la idea, el amor, los materiales, el tiempo y las ganas de hacer que todo sea hermoso y agradable para el que lo va a portar o recibir.

Hace unos días estoy con una emocionada con un trabajo nuevo y es que cuando mezclo el bordado y costura en un solo proyecto me siento como en las nubes, como un pez en el agua, como panadero en cultivos de trigo.

A knot to start embroidering

When we start a craft we put together the idea, the love, the materials, the time and the desire to make everything beautiful and pleasant for the person who is going to wear or receive it.

A few days ago I am excited about a new job and when I mix embroidery and sewing in a single project I feel like in the clouds, like a fish in the water, like a baker in wheat crops.

Hacer lencería de bebé es algo que vengo realizando desde que salí jubilada; antes de eso había hecho la lencería de cuna de mis hijos y en ese tiempo todo se hacía viendo revistas o si alguien tenía hecho lo que uno quería hacer lo pedía prestado para replicarlo.

¡Que levante la mano la que alguna vez hizo eso!

Making baby lingerie is something I have been doing since I retired; before that I had made my children's crib linens and at that time everything was done by looking at magazines or if someone had made what you wanted to make you borrowed it to replicate it.

Hands up who ever did that!

Yo creo que las que somos de la escuela vieja de las manualidades no perdemos la oportunidad para detallar hasta lo más mínimo cuando vemos algo que nos gusta y si lo podemos llevar prestado mejor.

I think that those of us who are from the old school of handicrafts never miss the opportunity to detail even the smallest thing when we see something we like and if we can borrow it even better.

Hoy en día todo se ha vuelto más fácil, por eso siempre trato de animar a toda aquella mujer que le gusta mis trabajos para que lo practiquen porque con tanta tecnología ¡ya no hay nada imposible!

Para la muestra un botón; así dicen en mi país Venezuela. Hoy les vengo a mostrar como hice una nana, unas fundas y la colcha para la cuna de la clínica.

Nowadays everything has become easier, that's why I always try to encourage all those women who like my work to practice it because with so much technology, nothing is impossible anymore!

For the sample a button; that's what they say in my country Venezuela. Today I come to show you how I made a nana, some covers and the quilt for the crib of the clinic.

La nana:

Para la nana hice tres cortes, el primero en tela gris de pepitas, el segundo azul de tela volver burbuja y el tercero en guata, cada uno mide 80 x 80 centímetros.

Lo primero que hice fue colocar la tela principal (tela azul) sobre la guata y la bastie con puntadas largas para fijar. Esa tela velvet burbuja es muy linda, pero es elástica y tiende a moverse mucho, así que es mejor tomar la aguja e hilo y hacer el basteo.

The lullaby:

For the nana I made three cuts, the first in gray nugget fabric, the second blue back bubble fabric and the third in wadding, each measuring 80 x 80 centimeters.

The first thing I did was to place the main fabric (blue fabric) on the wadding and bastie it with long stitches to fix it. That bubble velvet fabric is very nice, but it is stretchy and tends to move around a lot, so it's best to take the needle and thread and do the bastie.

Luego enfrentas con la tela de forro (tela gris) y vuelves a fijar por la orilla. Pasamos costura recta por toda la orilla dejando un espacio de 20 centímetros para voltear. Volteamos y cerramos con puntada escondida. Por últimos marcamos 8 centímetros desde la orilla hacia dentro y vamos haciendo una costura recta por todo el contorno. Eso hará que la nana quede más bonita. También haremos un cinturón de 1,50 de largo por 15 de ancho para amarrar.

Esta nana puede ser utilizada de esta forma cuando el bebé esta en los primeros meses, luego se usa abierta.

Then you face the lining fabric (gray fabric) and pin along the edge again. We pass straight stitching all along the edge leaving a space of 20 centimeters to turn over. Turn over and close with a hidden stitch. Finally, mark 8 centimeters from the edge inwards and sew a straight seam all around. This will make the lullaby more beautiful. We will also make a belt 1.50 long by 15 wide to tie.

This lullaby can be used this way when the baby is in the first months, then it is used open.

Edredón o colcha de la clínica:

Esta colcha mide aproximadamente 40 x 70 centímetros. Con esta medida puedes jugar y cortar los distintos colores que vas a combinar. En mi caso corte dos de cada color, ya que luego que unes las telas deben coincidir tanto en la parte del frente como en la parte posterior.

Quilt or quilt of the clinic:

This quilt measures approximately 40 x 70 centimeters. With this measurement you can play around and cut the different colors that you are going to combine. In my case I cut two of each color, since after you join the fabrics together they must match both on the front and back.

Fundas:

Las fundas tienen una medida de 36 por 23, pero para que nos dé esa medida debemos cortar, en blanco de corazones dos rectángulos de 32 x 25 y en tela gris 14 x 25. Todas las costuras están hechas con costura recta y luego zigzag para que no se deshilache.

Covers:

The pillowcases measure 36 by 23, but to give us that measurement we must cut, in white hearts two 32 x 25 rectangles and in gray fabric 14 x 25. All the seams are made with straight stitching and then zigzag so that it does not fray.

Hay que tener en cuenta que la tela de las fundas de un bebé debe ser suave y si compras las almohaditas deben ser hechas con relleno antialérgico.

Hacer las almohadas es muy fácil, solo debes comprar el relleno antialérgico que vale 5 $ el medio kilo y de esa cantidad te salen un montón de almohadas y cojines.

It should be borne in mind that the fabric for a baby pillowcases should be soft and if you buy the pillows should be made with anti-allergic filler.

Making the pillows is very easy, you only have to buy the anti-allergic stuffing that costs 5 $ per half kilo and from that amount you get a lot of pillows and cushions.
