Hello my dear friends of the needlework community, today I come full of mixed feelings, on the one hand happy for the beginning of one more week to be able to work with all the energy we have as seamstresses inside, secondly to participate in the contest organized by the #OCD and #needleworkmonday community, OCD Community Boost Contest #7: Highlighting NeedleWorkMonday, I confess that ever since I saw this contest I was thinking and thinking what to do to enter since the main goal of the contest is to encourage needle artists to make work that connects who they are with what they love to do.

     In the course of these I have thought a lot about my childhood, my parents, I think I have many beautiful things to say about them because they were the ones who formed my character, guided me and instilled in me the principles and values that today I have more ingrained in my being.

     That is why today I want to dedicate this post to my childhood, to my parents, but especially to that beautiful being who gave me being and life and fought hard to get us ahead.

     She is my mother, her name is Vidalia, she is 86 years old and as her name says she is and has been pure LIFE, my mother is the nicest person I have ever met in this world, she is cheerful, funny, helpful, excellent cook and she is the one who loves God above all things.

Much LOVE to my Mother🌷 🌺

     This beautiful woman you see with white hair is my mom and it's been a year and 4 months since I have been able to hug her because she is in another state of my country and the pandemic doesn't let me travel.

     That is why I told you at the beginning that I had mixed feelings, because these days I have missed my mom a lot, my sisters pass me pictures and videos and every time I see her more and more grandmotherly, with whiter hair than ever and she tells me that her knees hurt a lot. Recently they made a video call since they have already installed the Colombian internet signal in the countryside where they live. You don't know the emotion I felt when I saw her, although she has all her white hair and her face full of wrinkles for me she is the most beautiful woman on the planet earth.

     I know that we all look after her well being and I know that she is well taken care of, but I feel that I am losing valuable time with her. But anyway, since that day I have had a positive recharge of energy, seeing her, talking to her, knowing that she is well, that makes me feel better and gives me strength to endure her absence until all this is over and we can travel.

     For since that day I knew who I was going to dedicate my post to, because I connected again with my roots, with the countryside, the flowers, the mountains, the games I played as a child and much more. In truth I can only be grateful to God for having given me the joy of being born in this home that although it was humble and simple, there was plenty of love, joy and peace.

Embroidery in ribbon and cross stitch

     Today I made a ribbon embroidery, a beautiful technique with which you can decorate towels, clothes, souvenirs, sheets and much more. I learned this technique watching videos on Youtube, through magazines and I also did a three class course with the teacher Rosalinda in Caracas who works very beautiful, her Facebook is "Los bordados de Rosalinda" in case you like to know her a little more. Not only flowers are made with this technique, we can also make animals, letters and landscape paintings.

Materials we are going to use

• White Etamina fabric
• Embroidery needle #18
• Ribbons #10 #7 #5 #3
• Cross stitch embroidery thread
• Green cold paint
• Drum or embroidery frame

     The ribbons are also called ribbons and there are many colors and sizes; in the market you can get plenty of magazines that will help you expand your vision when working.

Step by step

     The first thing we are going to do is to cut the special Etamina fabric for embroidery, we must take into account the direction of the squares in case you are going to embroider something in the cross stitch technique. We place the fabric in the embroidery drum or frame, draw with pencil what you want to do and start threading the needle with #10 ribbon. This type of flowers can also be made with satin ribbon.

     Now we are going to shape the flower, the first thing we do is place the three petals on the back as you see in the picture, then we make a mini flower until you get the size that best suits you and sew it with a thread stitch. Remember that it must be well fastened so that it never comes loose. Then we make some leaves on each side of this flower that we have just sewn but giving it a slight shape with the help of our fingers without tightening the tape.

     This flower I made identically only I didn't use the flower button, instead I used some yellow stitches with #3 ribbon.

     In ribbon embroidery there are many types of stitches, below I name you just a few of them.

• Stitching. It is done from right to left. ...
• Stem stitch. It is done in a single movement. ...
• Cast-on stitch. It is drawn from left to right. ...
• Chain stitch. ...
• Fly stitch. ...
• Herringbone stitch or vertical fly stitch. ...
• Daisy stitch. ...
• Daisy stitch followed or chain stitch feather.

     This time I painted my work at the end so that in the photographs the pencil drawing and the stitches could be distinguished a little bit, but it is better to paint the fabric with cold paint before starting the embroidery.

     I am very happy with the result, I know I still have a lot to do, but I did not have enough time for more; with this I want to make a beautiful cushion to decorate my mother's bed.

     I want to tell you something that happened to me while I was writing this post, I received a call from my mother, that made me feel more blessed by God, you will say! Why is this woman so excited to receive a call from her mother? It happens that here in my country communication is very bad and we have gone back a lot in that regard. Unfortunately the call did not last long but at least we were able to greet each other and by the way she sends her blessings and greetings to all of you.

    Hola mis queridas amigas de la comunidad de la aguja, hoy vengo llena de sentimientos encontrados, por un lado feliz por el inicio de una semana más para poder trabajar con toda la energía que tenemos as costureras por dentro, segundo para participar en el concurso organizado por la comunidad #OCD y #needleworkmonday, OCD Community Boost Contest #7: Highlighting NeedleWorkMonday, confieso que desde que vi este concurso estaba pensando y pensando que hacer para participar ya que el objetivo principal del concurso es alentar a los artistas de la aguja a realizar un trabajo que conecte quiénes son con lo que aman hacer.

    En el transcurso de estos he pensado mucho en mi infancia, en mis padres, creo que tengo muchas cosas hermosas que decir de ellos porque fueron los que formaron mi carácter, me orientaron y me inculcaron los principios y valores que hoy en día tengo más arraigados en mi ser.

    Por eso hoy quiero dedicar este post a mi infancia, a mis padres, pero en especial a ese ser hermoso que me dio el ser y la vida y lucho mucho para sacarnos a delante.

    Ella es mi madre, se llama Vidalia, tiene 86 años y como su nombre lo dice es y ha sido pura VIDA, mi madre es la persona más buena que he conocido en este mundo, es alegre, divertida, colaboradora, excelente cocinera y es la que más ama a Dios por sobre todas las cosas.

Mucho AMOR para mi Madre🌷 🌺

    Esta hermosa mujer que vez con el pelo blanco es mi mamá y hace un año y 4 meses que no la puedo abrazar porque está en otro estado de mi país y la pandemia no me deja viajar.

    Por eso les decía al principio que tenía sentimientos encontrados, porque estos días he extrañado mucho a mi mamá, mis hermanas me pasan fotos y videos y cada vez la veo más abuelita, con el pelo más blanco que nunca y me dice que le duelen mucho sus rodillas. Hace poco hicieron una video llamada ya que allá en el campo donde viven ya colocaron la señal de internet colombiana. No saben la emoción que sentí al verla, aunque tiene todo su cabello blanco y su cara llena de arrugas para mi es la mujer más bella de todo el planeta tierra.

    Yo sé que todos procuramos su bienestar y sé que está bien cuidada, pero siento que me estoy perdiendo un tiempo valioso junto a ella. Pero en fin, desde ese día que tuve una recarga positiva de energía, verla, habla con ella, saber que está bien, eso me hace sentir mejor y me da fuerzas para soportar su ausencia hasta que todo esto termine y podamos viajar.

    Pues desde ese día supe a quién le iba a dedicar mi post, porque me conecté nuevamente con mis raíces, con el campo, las flores, las montañas, los juegos de niña y mucho más. En verdad que solo puedo estar agradecida con Dios por haberme regalado la dicha de nacer en este hogar que aunque era humilde y sencillo sobraba el Amor, la alegría y la paz.

Bordado en cinta y punto de cruz

    Hoy he realizado un bordado en cinta, una técnica hermosa con la que puedes decorar toallas, ropa, recuerdos, sabanas y mucho más. Yo aprendí esta técnica viendo videos en Youtube, por revistas y también hice un cursos de tres clases con la profesora Rosalinda en Caracas que trabaja muy hermoso, su Facebook es “Los bordados de Rosalinda” por si gustan conocerla un poco más. No solo se hacen flores con esta técnica, también podemos hace animalitos, letras y cuadros de paisajes.

Materiales que vamos a utilizar

• Tela Etamina blanca
• Aguja # 18 de bordar
• Cintas #10 #7 #5 #3
• Sedalinas para bordar en punto de cruz
• Pintura al frío verde

•   Tambor o bastidor para bordar
  

    A las cintas también le llaman listones y los hay de muchos colores y tamaños; en el mercado puedes conseguir infinidad de revistas que te ayudaran ampliar más tu visión a la hora de trabajar.

Modo de trabajar

    Lo primero que vamos hacer es cortar la tela Etamina especial para bordar, debemos tener en cuenta la dirección de los cuadros por si acaso vas a bordar alguna cosa en la técnica del punto de cruz. Colocamos la tela en el tambor o bastidor para bordar, dibujamos con lápiz lo que más o menos quieres hacer y comenzamos ensartando la aguja con cinta #10. Este tipo de flores también puedes hacerla con cinta de raso.

    Ahora vamos dándole forma a la flor, lo primero que hacemos es colocar los tres petalos en la parte de atrás como lo ves en la imagen, luego elaboramos una mini flor hasta obtener e tamaño que mejor te convenga y la cosemos con unas puntada de hilo. Recuerda que debe quedar bien sujeta para que no se suelte nunca. Luego hacemos unas hojas a cada lado de esta flor que acabamos de coser pero dándole una ligera forma con la ayuda de nuestros dedos sin apretar mucho la cinta.

Otra forma de hacer la flor

    Esta flor la hice idéntica solo que no utilicé el botón de la flor, en cambio utilicé unas puntadas amarillas con cinta #3.

    En el bordado en cinta existen muchos tipos de punto, a continuación te nombro tan solo unos cuantos de ellos.

• Pespunte. Se realiza de derecha a izquierda. ...
• Punto de tallo. Se hace en un único movimiento. ...

• Punto lanzado. Se traza de izquierda a derecha. ...
• Punto de cadeneta. ...
• Punto de mosca. ...
• Punto de espiga o punto de mosca vertical. ...
• Punto de margarita. ...
• Punto de margarita seguido o pluma de cadeneta.

    Esta vez pinté mi trabajo al final para que en las fotografías se distinguiera un poco el dibujo a lápiz y las puntadas, pero es mejor pintar la tela con pintura al frío antes de comenzar el bordado.

    Estoy muy contenta con el resultado, sé que me falta mucho por hacer, pero es que no me alcanzó el tiempo para más; con esto quiero elaborar un cojín hermoso para decorar la cama de mi madre.

    Quiero contarles algo que me sucedió mientras escribía este post, he recibido una llamada de mi madre, eso me hizo sentir más bendecida por Dios, ¡Ustedes dirán! ¿Porque esta mujer se emociona tanto de recibir una llamada de su madre? Y es que sucede que aquí en mi país la comunicación es malísima y hemos retrocedido un montón en cuanto a eso. Lamentablemente la llamada no duró mucho pero por lo menos nos pudimos saludar y por cierto les envía muchas bendiciones y saludos a todos.
