50's/60's/70's/80's Vintage patterns on offer as photos direct to you

Hi there all, I hope that you are well and not stabbing your fingers like I do every time I go anywhere near a needle and even sewing machines...somehow...🙄

So I am not a sewer, I am a destroyer of beautiful fabric and dresses instead, though I don't mean to be.

I totally failed at sewing in high school and fail every time I have a go now, it doesn't matter how much I watch tutorials and practice.

It is a shame too cause I love clothes, colour and my own fashion. I love designing outfits and modifying outfits, so I always have to pay someone to do it for me.

So I inherited my lack of ability to sew well from my mum- but atleast she could sew, though she used to say that she wasn't very good at it and only did it cause she had 3 kids. I thankfully don't. BUT I can't sew at all.

Mum had big ideas of making outfits from scratch and over many decades bought quite a lot of fabric and patterns to make these things, but with 3 kids, never got around to it.

So although I cannot sell you all of the authentic vintage fabric I inherited, don't get me wrong, I do want to sell it and get it out of here, but from a physical standpoint, it would cost a lot to get it to you from Australia (if it ever actually arrived to you...) and as it is vintage and extremely good quality, it is worth a fortune...

HOWEVER, after having some discussions with my good friend @smilestitches about him making a special outfit for his mum, I have offered to send the photos of the pattern packets and am happy to take each pattern out of its packet to photograph it as best as possible and send the photos, so at least he can have a look at the shapes and measurements and stuff like that and so I would also like to extend this offer to all of you too @monica-ene @bimpcy @shanibeer @sumaiya777 and anyone else who would like a copy too.

And you may think that these are old, but yet I see so many young people wearing them- they are all back in fashion now, so it doesn't matter whether its a design from either era, as long as they suit the person that's going to wear them, it all works...Kind of like me, I'm still stuck in the 70's and 80's...🤣...and I wouldn't have it any other way.

So women's bodies have changed a lot over the decades, but you guys are clever, so I'm sure that you will be able to take these measurements and modify them to your needs.

If you don't want the patterns, no worries, but I do hope that I've given you some creative inspiration to make some of these classic beauties yourself.

I took all the photos of these about 4 or 5 years ago on my old iphone, so photos on my new phone will be much better.

So like I said, if you want photo copies, just send me a message!

So here's my mum on her 21st birthday in 1962 and this dress she made for herself

YOUNG MUM IN HER DRESS.png

and here is the dress here 2 years ago when I took this photo....so considering it's almost 60yrs old, it still in pretty good condition...

Anyway, here are the patterns from Butterick, MCCalls, Vogue, Simplicity and ....

AND you will see that mum even wrote the dates on some of them and I even noticed that there is one in there that she labelled October 1961- 60 years ago now. How freaky is that!

OMGGGGG, these bring back such memories! I remember my mum and older sisters having these - Butterick and Simplicity come to mind, I loved looking through them all! And no, I don't sew at all either - lol. My mum was the Jill of all trades though and even sewed my first pair of jeans!! We would look through and choose our dresses, etc, and mum will sew with similar patterned cloth... :D

When I was little I used to wear mums, 60 skirts and petticoats around the house playing dress up as a princess cause even though they were knee length on her, they were down to the floor, so like ball gowns for me!!!

That was one of my favourite things to do and I used to dress up our cat Missy in my baby clothes and wheel her around the house in my pram too...

Such a shame I am so shit at sewing cause I've got all of the old fabric too...🙄

@chocolatescorpi wow Although your mother's dress is very old style, this dress was used a lot at that time. The biggest thing is that your mother's dress is very beautiful. Although nowadays there is a promotion of modern dress day by day. But at that time your mother's dress was a suitable dress to wear in a good occasion. The dress is still very bright. Also the modern dresses that you have shown are also very beautiful. Thank you so much for showing me some beautiful dresses.

You are more than welcome @sumaiya777 and the good thing is though, that even though these dresses are actually vintage style, they are now a modern style too.

So they went out of date, but now they're back in and easily modified to suit all body shapes and sizes and all occasions too.

Awwnnn, how nice of you to have us in mind. Fashion patterns have remained thesame ever since, we only do some editing and improvement of these basics, these might be old fashioned but I can make them come alive in different ways.

I really appreciate your kind gesture and taking out time to do this for us.

Oh well you must have found your passion outside sewing else I will like to tutor you under strict surveillance, you must learn and be perfect by force (😂😂😂😂😁😁😁😁)
Just joking.

Thanks once again

Yeah exactly. Those patterns are the base and then the rest of the creation is up to you to make yours!

And if there is anything that you want to see more of, I am more than happy to take the out of the packet to photograph for you!

I have so many ideas to help us all out and they involve you and @smilessticthes and @bimpcy and so many others in yuor part of the world, but A) I have to win the lotto first and B) we have to get out of lockdown too...

💃💃💃

We will the lotto
And pls come out of that lockdown 😃

Hay, as soon as I win the lotto and get out of lockdown, I'll be knocking on your door! 😃

(ok so maybe in about 2024...)

2024 😲😩

☹️🙄...😢

You have no idea what a treasure this would be for me 😍 wow, take good care of them, if we were in the same country I would definitely buy them all from you. Fashion history at its finest, love it. Greetings from Venezuela

Well @lunaticanto if there's something in that you fancy, just let me know and I'll pull the pattern out, lay it on the floor and take photos of it for you. That should give you a pretty good idea of how to make it...

My mom was excellent at sewing, now you have me wondering where her patterns went, much like you I don't do too much on the machine although I have done some.... not in awhile though!

That brought great memories seeing the 'old' patterns again, fashions go round in circles, what goes out will come back in!

@tipu curate

I tried and not only destroyed all this absolutely beautiful fabric that a friend bought me from Thailand, but also 2 dresses that I bought myself in Thailand AND somehow my fingers tooo.😳..

I love seeing those old styles- especially the beautiful and classy dresses from the 60's from the days of the Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin movies...

And you know what the other spin out is, The photo of mum in her 21st dress was taken in 1962 and I made 19.62 on this post! 😱

And one of the patterns mum has written Oct 1961 on it- exactly 60 years ago from now! 😱

And when mum died, I found 4 big scraps books in the cupboard that her brother had made in the 60's and 70s ( he died in 79) and put them on the table and the first date on the first page that he wrote in there was the same date as it was that day that I found them and opened them!

And the 2nd photo of him, he had written on the back was my exact birth date on it. So I know exactly where he was the night I was born! How cool is that!

Wow those memories are really great to keep close knowing all the history attached to them. It really is the small little things that we realize later are the ones we hold on to.

Yes I do agree, however I just have no room to keep mums patterns, fabrics AND her dresses too- as much as I want to keep them because they were hers...I just can't..

Over time we have to let go, perhaps look into family first if anyone would love to enjoy them.

Great idea but I don't know anyone in the 21st century (in my family) that has that 19inch waist that mum and the girls somehow did back then...😅

Corsets.... confined into a tight frame!

Not that I'm a fashion fanatic. But the material you have is very valuable. In my case, I set myself the goal these months to improve my drawings. Seeing the different positions of the models is just what I was looking for.

The music of the 80's together with the vintage style are my favourites. Thank you very much for sharing and good vibes!.

This are really amazing patterns @chocolatescorpi my dearest friendship thank you for having me in mind and you said am you friend thank you so much it such an honor ☺️☺️ But you really made me laugh 😆 till my head started banging when you said you’re a destroyer of fabrics 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂and you do stab your finger when you attempt sewing 😂 😂 sorry my dear in all those patterns you’ve shared are beautiful and it’s still in fashion till date I do see people wear them tho. Once again my dearest @chocolatescorpi thank you so much ☺️

So glad that you like them and let me know if there's anything you want to have a closer look at!

For you, anything any time my friend! 😊

Thanks you so much @chocolatescorpi my dearest friendship 🙏🏽🥰

My pleasure my friend!

And don't forget that the short dresses in there can be easily lengthened and the long dresses shortened too...😃

Yes to her taste right? But the problem there is how will I be able to see them I don’t know how to sew ladies only men 😒

Do you know how to make a pattern?

Using measurements and with the photos, you could actually make the patterns...

Whats your postal service like?
If I sent a pattern from Australia to you, do you think it would actually get to you or it your customs/postal service dodgy?

Okay @chocolatescorpi are you on WhatsApp or any social media so we could chart there much better 🙏🏽☺️
