Hello, Friends especially Needleworkers!
Maybe you already known that I love to make handcrafts, I love to make many things, such as in needleworks like cross stitch, felt applique, handsewing, and also hand embroidery; I also did the paper crafts too (I love to make handmade cards, make useful things from recycled materials). And, lately I also interested in needle felting (I already brought the DIY kit, but I even haven't tried it yet cause I don't have time - Oh Gosh, I wish I could have more time everyday, might be this wish also appeared in all friends here. This less of time also because I will release a big numbers of pixel pictures NFT this month. I hope it will finish on time and I could show you all what I have been working on recently), amirugumi (always envy the other crafters who could make it, adore them cause they could produce many cute ragdolls), and also crocheting...
Well let me share to you my little experience in starting this new crocheting thing. Actually many crafters inspired me in this community which I couldn't mention one by one :), sorry for that; and one day I ever learned to crochet.. I remembered that once I found a good hook to do the crocheting but I unfortunately lost it. And recently I saw a really cute crochet ginger bread man that made me fell in love and wanted to learn crochet since I saw it... Look at it, so cute, isn't it?
From that day I saw this ginger bread man, I was so excited to start crocheting.. But I really didn't have any clues of where to start so I started to do some searching, also I asked to the @needleworkmonday (thanks to our friend @neumannsalva for the tip on how to start!) and I also asked my co-worker, who loves to do crocheting and already a Pro, to help me to choose the hook and also yarns.
So, after I concultated with that co-worker I ordered the equipments online cause it is really hard to find the craft stores here even in this capital city. So I ordered it online from a store from another city (this city well known for the yarn and fabrics) and here what I bought
I bought three balls of the cotton yarns in red, beige brown and also white. I also bought the hook and also some markers and the red buttons. But oh la la, unfortunately, I felt that the yarns were too tight, I didn't used to this kind of yarn, it was to different with what I ever used and also I didn't like the texture... Oh no! My mistake that I had not to talk to the seller before I bought the things. A bit upset about these yarns actually, even i wanted to cry that day..
So, after that stupid mistake, I decided to communicate with the previous seller to find another yarn that would fix me well, she was nice and gave me a suggestion, so this time I followed her suggestion and I tried to buy the beige brown color only and also I needed to find another hook in 3.5 mm size to be well fitted with this new yarn, then I agreed and also bought it at this store. Then, I tried to make the know then I made some basic chain stitch...
I think I still cannot make it too well cause the size would be a little bit different from each other chain i made.. But it would be fine, at least, I could start to crochet now :). And I think this yarn was a bit chunky and not too tight to use. How do you think?
Today I continued some chains and I started to love crochet, somehow I could now hold the yarn better and also do it more naturally than my first trial. It made me relax.
And also I need some suggestions from maybe @neumannsalva @crosheille? How do you think? Any tips for me, a newbie one?
And to all friends here, have you started to crochet or any other needle work things?
How about the new thing that you learned?
Hope you enjoy life and have the joy in learning new things.
Thanks for reading my article, hope you enjoy it. Happy Sunday and stay tune for more CRAFT things from me!
Hey @devyleona! I am happy to see you diving in to crochet!
I remember when I first started it took me some time to get use to the tension I was using and keeping it unison all the way through. As you become more and more comfortable with the way you’re holding the yarn and hook it will be easier for your stitches to all look the same and have the same tension. Give yourself some time and grace to get a better hang of it.
I think you’re off to a good start ;)
Thanks @crosheille i hope i could dive really well into it cause i can't wait to make something cute :)
Wow this really looks amazing so cute @devyleona thanks for sharing
