Happy New Week everyone, hope you all had a relaxing weekend. I sure had a nice time with my family yesterday as it was Mother's Day celebration. As a mother, I felt incredibly loved and appreciated by my wonderful family.

One of the greatest commitments and roles I've taken on in life is motherhood, and I'm so proud of it. Being a mother is challenging yet immensely rewarding, watching my children grow into amazing personalities is an experience I can't trade for anything in the world. I've learned so much about patience, sacrifice, and unconditional love through motherhood. It has helped me become a better person and find greater meaning in my life's purpose.

On Mother's Day, my family went extra to make me feel special and celebrated, even though I was not aware that it was going to be a Mother's Day soon, if not for the fabric gift I got from my husband a week earlier, he said he wanted me to have a new dress for church on mother's day, I felt very happy and deeply appreciated his care and attentiveness, because it's been a while I made a dress for myself, I would always want to put others before myself, but receiving this gift, I had no other choice than to make this dress and also fulfill my husband wish, as he also took it upon himself to take charge of the day's chores and cooking, taking care of the children while I had a me time, to have a good Sunday rest. As I couldn't make it to church because I had a stressful week.

By evening time, we went on a date to one of the local restaurants in my area, and I got served a delicious plate of "nkwobi" which can be translated as "goat meat sauce" and a bottle of palm wine, I've been craving this local taste for a long time, it took mother's day to satisfy this craving and I made sure to adorn myself in the simple yet stylish dress I made which I would be sharing the making process with us.

I started by drafting and cutting the upper side of the dress, using a bustier pattern

I also cut out the base of the dress using a straight skirt pattern

I joined the upper pattern and also turned it with its lining piece for a cleaner finish.

Next, I joined the upper part of the dress to the lower part and also attached a zipper to the back area.

For the sleeves, I went with this free long-sleeve style,

And here is the final look, lovely, isn't it?

I went to bed that night feeling so grateful to be a mother and have such an incredibly supportive husband, he recognized all the energy and effort I put into being a good wife and mother, giving me a day to recharge and also spending a nice time together. I'm happy and honored to be celebrated because through all the difficulties, being a mother has been the most rewarding role of my life.
