I attended a sewing class!

My needlework story to share today is different from usual crochet-related stories. This time, it is all about sewing!

Ever since I was younger, I've really been into sewing, both by hand and a portable machine. I think I even got into it way before I got interested in crocheting. Haha I tried hand sewing a skirt, a top, or pouches, but of course, the stitches were not the cleanest. Haha Still, I felt so proud of them! That experience actually triggered my dream of having my own clothing line one day or at least join a sewing class.

For years of planning to join a sewing class, I never actually got to do it. Haha. Not until recently, anyway.

So while I was scrolling through my Instagram feed, I bumped into a post by BGLK Enterprise, announcing that they have free sewing classes! Their location was also quite near us, so I signed up for it right awaaaay.

BGLK Enterprise is a local business in the PH that sells products using local handwoven fabrics. Because of this, they get to help our local weavers sell and market their traditional fabrics while also helping in passing on this part of our culture to more people. To know more about BGLK, you may visit their website here!

In the class where I joined, we made two items-- a coin pouch and vanity pouch! I am so happy because aside from this, being my first sewing class, it was also my first time to use a handwoven fabric and a heavy duty machine. Aaaaaaa

Though I already tried using a portable machine before, I still needed time to get used to using the heavy duty one. I am very grateful because the team was so nice and patient, especially Ate D, the one who assisted me! She would even whisper to me, "okay lang yan" "kaya mo yan."

Alsooo, BGLK gave us more materials we can use to practice ourselves at home! Soooo generous!

These were the pouches I made from sraaaatch!

I am super grateful for this fun day! I really learned something from it! This experience also made me appreciate sewers. This craft needs tons of experience to really get the hand of it plus it causes so much pain in different parts of the body! Sooo kudos to all the sewers out there!

Stay sane and safe!
Let's spread happiness.

Wow this is a very nice skill, I very glad to see this from you and you don't give the opportunity up well done dear

Thank you so much!

That’s a really bold step and it was cool of them to give you materials so you practice at home.I love the pouches you made and can’t wait to see what you’ll be making next.

Aww thank youuu! I do hope i'll get to sew again soon!

I'm glad you took the opportunity to learn a new skill. And also you didn't take the class for granted because it is free. Free classes are often taken for granted unlike classes you paid for.
Thanks for sharing, welcome to the Sewing family 🥰

I reallyy enjoy it! And ohhh I love free classes and events! haha
Thank you so muuuchhhh

I haven't tried sewing yet, although I tried tufting today for the first time and agree using heavy duty machinery is really fun! Nice pouches btw! Good luck with your clothing line!
