DONUT EAT!

(Edited on Canva)

I've been eyeing this crochet donut right after Valentine's Day. I saw this on Facebook, and a lot of people have been doing it already. But what makes me interested in these donuts is that I love eating donuts. Even my kids love them, so I thought of trying to make some.

I started looking for khaki or light brown yarn in my yarn stash as it will be used as the lower part of our donuts. I was glad to find 1 skein, enough to make a few crochet donuts.

I also looked for a video tutorial on Youtube, and I found this pattern which consists of 2 parts: Part 1, and Part 2.

After watching it, I began crocheting my donut and chose 4 different flavors... I mean colors. 😅

I made chocolate, strawberry, ube and something blue green colored but didn't exactly know what flavor it was.😅 Just like a real donuts, I also sewn some different yarn color to act as sprinkles on the tops.

And finally, I attached the keyring to every donut.

Now, who wants to have these yummy-looking donuts?

They really look good, yet you CAN'T EAT IT, can you?😅

The moment my youngest child saw it, he was beaming and asking to have the blue-colored donut attached to his bag's zipper together with his crocheted watermelon (which I'll try to share here next time.)

I was planning to sell these crocheted donuts to be displayed at the Sagay City Showroom (located in our Plaza) before the coming fiesta.

Though I wanted to make more donuts with different colors, I had to postpone it for a while since I don't have the khaki-colored yarn for the bottom area. I don't want to order online yet, as I have to finish some flower bouquet orders.

Then last week, I received another flower bouquet order. A bridal bouquet, to be exact. The bride requested that the colors of the flowers have a sunset-hued palette, and since I don't have the complete colors that I need, I then made an order online. I also included the khaki-colored yarn for my donuts.

After 4 days, I received my new set of yarns, and instead of making the bridal bouquet, I decided to start with the crochet donuts. I still have more time to finish the bouquet, and I think I'll need just a day or two to finish it. I just want to do the donuts first, and I was really excited to make at least ten or twenty pieces of them.

I started with the khaki yarn, which is the bottom part of our donut. You will find the pattern above (part 1), as I mentioned earlier.

If you see the video tutorial, you will notice that the pattern for the bottom (khaki) part and the upper (other color) part of the donut is the same. The only difference they have is that the khaki, or bottom part, has a longer tail than for sewing (combining the two parts).

In the above picture, you will see that the upper part has already been attached to the bottom part (the inner side of the donut only). In the video, they were made separately and later sewn on both sides. But I made a short cut here. After I made the bottom part, I then started to crochet the upper part by making 15 SC on the smaller end of the bottom area. In this way, I won't be sewing the inner part of the donut, which is a little bit hard for me.

I'm almost done in here. They all look pretty, but they are definitely not perfect yet. I'm getting impatient to finish it sooner, but I don't have an idea what design I should be making on top of them except for the sprinkles. 😅

I looked for some crochet donuts on Pinterest and found some inspiration there. I tried to copy some of them, but it doesn't look very good. I think I have to practice more on the donut toppers and hope I can perfect them soon.

By the way, I used 5-ply milk cotton and a 2.5mm crochet hook while making the first 4 donuts that I showed above, while I used the 4-ply milk cotton and a 2.5mm crochet hook for these 16-piece donuts.

Also, it seems that using the 5-ply milk cotton with the larger output is ideal since it makes it simpler to create certain designs for the donut toppers. The first batch of donuts looks more neat and lovely compared to the second batch.

Despite working on occasion as I have some house chores that need to be done every day, I managed to finish the 16 donuts in two days.

Shout out to @romeskie, who has also made and shared this kind of crochet donut here, for which she used other techniques. I find the technique she used easier than the one I used. 😍 Therefore, I will try it next time I'll be making donuts.

Thank you for reading 'till the end. God bless everyone.😘

Yours truly,

@jonalyn2020 😘😘😘

So cute!!! Where's the chocolate flavor? 🤣 The process looks a bit more complicated than I thought :D

Thank you, @hiddenblade. 😍 I made one chocolate flavor with sprinkles in the 1st batch only (that you will find in the cover photo) but I'm planning to make more chocolate flavors next time. 😊

The process looks a bit more complicated than I thought

Yeah, a little. But once you start making it, you will soon realize that it's easy.

But I guess, the technique @romeskie used in her donut-making is way easier. 😉

Anyway, thank you for dropping by and leaving a nice comment here. God bless you dear. 😊

wow, que talento, hermosamente delicioso.

Muchas gracias @afrikablr. 😘

This is just so beautiful! They look so real😄

Ps: I like how creative you got with the title🤭. Just genius.

Thank you @wongi..😊 They really enticed me to make more. And I was hoping to practice more in the future.

Oh, the title. 😅 Yeah, I was thinking of a catchy title and it did really catch your attention.😁 Thanks for noticing it.hehe

I really hope you practice more in the future 🤍😊

I will. 😊

They were very beautiful I congratulate you, it is so fascinating how in youtube we can find help to find help to have a good time.

Indeed. They are of great help, and somehow they motivate and inspire us to do what they have done. Thank you, @gladymar1973, for dropping by. I'm glad you like my donuts. 😊

In fact today I saw some videos that left me in love, I'm in pattern planning, happy afternoon.

I look forward to your patterns in the future. You can tag me if you want. 😊

With pleasure my dear, happy beginning of the week

You too, sister.😊

Your donnus are very realistic, I love to see all those colors together. I ate a Donnus once and I wouldn't do it again, jaja.

Thank you so much, @inici-arte. I'm so glad that you love them. Wait, do you mean you ate the fake one? Sorry, I got confused. 😅

Doughnut 🤩🤩🤩

Yes, doughnut. I think this is really the main spelling since it is made from dough. But a lot of counties outside the US have been using the 'donut' spelling, and that includes the Philippines. 😊

Ooh, they are cute! I’m actually coming across crochet donuts for the first time.

Thank you, @philomenob. Here in the Philippines, a lot of crocheters were making these donuts, and they all looked yummy. I mean, they looked incredibly cute and amazing.

Anyway, thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment. I really appreciate it. God bless you, dear. 😊

Wow it's quite a creative challenge that nice donuts on keychains.

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment here, dear @lauracraft 😊
