Needle Work Monday - Gray and black lingerie set: poorly cut fabric but it still worked. / Conjunto de lencería gris y negro: con la tela mal cortada pero igual funcionó. 😅❤️

Good morning friends of Hive and Needle Work Monday. Happy Monday to all of you, I hope you are feeling very well today. I like the beginning of the week because it is a new opportunity for us to share the projects we have been working on during the week. Well, in my case, I started this project several days ago but just this weekend I had enough energy to finish it. It's about this gray and black lingerie set, in which I made some mistakes but that I was able to finish anyway and it is functional. Hope you like it ❤️.

Me gustan los inicios de semana porque es una nueva oportunidad para que compartamos los proyectos en los que estuvimos trabajando en la semana. Bueno, en mi caso, este proyecto lo inicié hace varios días pero recién este fin de semana tuve la energía suficiente para terminarlo. Se trata de este conjunto de lencería gris y negro, en el que cometí algunos errores pero que igualmente pude terminar y es funcional. Espero que les guste ❤️.

The idea for this project came to me over a week ago when I was going through my patchwork box. Getting rid of them or using them for something useful is proving to be quite an arduous task, but I still want to use them all. Among those fabrics I had a piece of this gray fabric, which is like stretchy sportswear. Supposedly almost any stretch fabric could be turned into a panties set so I gave it a try. BUT the problem was that the patch had a strange shape, an irregular shape that did not allow me to arrange the pieces as it should, following the elasticity of the fabric, but I still decided to go ahead 😅.

La idea de hacer este proyecto surgió hace más de una semana cuando estaba revisando mi caja de retazos. Deshacerse de ellos o usarlos para algo útil está siendo una tarea bastante ardua, pero igual quiero aprovecharlos todos. Entre esas telas tenía un retazo de esta tela gris, que es como de ropa deportiva elastizada. Supuestamente casi cualquier tela elastizada podría transformarse en un conjunto de ropa interior así que lo intenté. PERO el problema era que el retazo tenía una forma extraña, una forma irregular que no me permitió acomodar las piezas como debería, siguiendo la elasticidad de la tela, pero igual decidí seguir adelante 😅.

When making lingerie, the elasticity of the fabric must be taken into account. This has to stretch to the sides so that one can get into the garments. Generally fabrics like lace and cotton with lycra only stretch in one direction, and you have to identify it to cut the pieces correctly. Well, when I made this garment I forgot about all that because my idea was to take advantage of the patchwork, so many of the pieces were elasticated up, so I doubted if the garment would work. But I had to try, in the worst case the garment would be for cushion padding and that's it 😅.

Al momento de confeccionar lencería se tiene que tener en cuenta la elasticidad de la tela. Esta tiene que estirarse hacia los costados para que uno pueda entrar en las prendas. Generalmente las telas como los encajes y algodón con lycra solo estiran en una dirección, y hay que identificarla para cortar las piezas correctamente. Bueno, cuando confeccioné esta prenda me olvidé de todo eso porque mi idea era aprovechar el retazo, entonces muchas de las piezas me quedaron con la elasticidad hacia arriba, por lo que dudaba de si la prenda funcionaría. Pero tenía que intentarlo, en el peor de los casos la prenda sería para relleno de almohadón y ya 😅.

I made the panties the same day that I cut the fabrics and since that afternoon I wanted to focus only on sewing, I didn't take any photos of the process, so here I will only share my adventure yesterday making the bra. I don't remember having so many problems when making the panties, but the upper part really tested my patience. To begin with, joining the fabrics was a total chaos because the machine did not sew well, it skipped many stitches or it did not do them at all. This forced me to take three passes at each joint, and in some cases it was not even perfectly joined 🙃.

La bombacha la hice el mismo día que corté las telas y como esa tarde quería concentrarme solo en coser, no tomé ninguna foto del proceso, así que aquí solo compartiré mi aventura de ayer haciendo el corpiño. No recuerdo haber tenido tantos problemas a la hora de confeccionar la bombacha, pero la parte superior si que puso a prueba mi paciencia. Para empezar, unir las telas fue todo un caos porque la máquina no cosía bien, se saltaba muchas puntadas o directamente no las hacía. Esto me obligó a dar tres pasadas en cada unión, y en algunos casos ni siquiera quedó perfectamente unido 🙃.

When I put the elastics on, the stitches were also jumping quite a bit and it took me a while to find the right thread tension to make it work. What makes two-color garments is that you have to keep changing the threads because at times you need all light threads, or all black threads, or light threads on top and black below, or vice versa. So I recommend that if you are about to make a garment of this style on days of little patience, it is better to leave it for another moment. Luckily I was able to handle it well this time 😅.

Cuando puse los elásticos, las puntadas también saltaban bastante y me costó un rato encontrar la tensión del hilo adecuada para que funcione. Lo que tiene la confección de prendas bicolor es que hay que estar cambiando los hilos porque por momentos necesitas todo hilo claro, o todo hilo negro, o hilo claro arriba y negro abajo o al revés. Así que te recomiendo que si estas por hacer una prenda de este estilo en días de poca paciencia, mejor lo dejes para otro momento. Por suerte yo pude llevarlo bien esta vez 😅.

Even if I don't show it, behind the scenes I'm always like this, trying on the garment in the intermediate steps. I always want to know if it's turning out well 😂.

Aunque no lo muestre, en los detrás de escena siempre estoy así, probandome la prenda en los pasos intermedios. SIempre quiero saber si está quedando bien 😂.

Perhaps for this reason and with stopping every so often to take photos I get distracted and make small mistakes. Another thing that happened to me with this one is that I forgot to leave excess elastic to join the hooks of the straps. I had to add the washers sewn by hand because with the machine it was not possible. Luckily, even though the space was small, I was able to work it out 😀.

Quizás por eso y con lo de pararme a cada rato a sacar fotos me distraigo y voy cometiendo pequeños errores. Otra cosa que me pasó con este es que me olvidé de dejar elástico excedente para unir los ganchos de los breteles. Tuve que añadir las arandelas cosidas a mano porque con la máquina no era posible. Por suerte, aunque el espacio era pequeño, pude solucionarlo 😀.

The final step for this bra and panties was also to sew the little bow. Going through my supplies I realized that this was the last piece of black tape I have: for the next garment I will have to buy more. At some point I also bought metal charms to decorate, but I like how it looks better with fabric bows. What do you think? ❤️

El paso final para este corpiño y para la bombacha también fue coser el pequeño moño. Revisando entre mis insumos me di cuenta de que este fue el último trozo de cinta negra que tengo: para la próxima prenda voy a tener que comprar más. En algún momento también compré dijes metálicos para decorar, pero me gusta más como queda con moños de tela. ¿Que piensan ❤️?

Of course I finished and ran to try on how it fit me. Anything could have happened, that it didn't stretch well or that the seams broke, but luckily none of that happened. I think that since I know that this mold is perfectly my size, the garments do not need to stretch too much. Anyway, next time I'm going to do things accordingly 😅.

Por supuesto que terminé y corrí a probarme como me quedaba. Podría haber pasado cualquier cosa, que no estire bien o que las costuras se rompieran, pero por suerte nada de eso pasó. Creo que como sé que este molde es perfectamente de mi talle, no hace falta que las prendas se estiren demasiado. De cualquier forma, la próxima vez voy a hacer las cosas como corresponden 😅.

I was very happy that this set worked. I don't have that many cotton underwear, it's all been too lacy lately so it's nice to have something a little more comfortable and casual. And if you ask about my patchwork box, aaah it's still fuller than I'd like, but little by little it's going to empty. By the way, I'm stocking up on beautiful underwear so I'm not going to complain too much either 😃.

Me alegró mucho que este conjunto haya funcionado. No tengo tanta ropa interior de algodón, todo fue demasiado encaje ultimamente así que es bueno tener algo un poco más cómodo y casual. Y si preguntan por mi caja de retazos, aaah todavía sigue más llena de lo que me gustaría, pero poco a poco se va a ir vaciando. De paso, me voy stockeando de ropa interior hermosa así que tampoco me voy a quejar tanto 😃.
