[NWM] Vodoo Lounge - some rockandroll embroidered in sequins [ENG-ESP]

Happy Monday, needlework friends! Today I bring you a sequin embroidery on an incredible Rolling Stones album cover. I won't say it's a special embroidery, because they all are in some way, but this is undoubtedly my favorite design from this band, and even though my costume already has one referring to them, I didn't want my collection to be incomplete.

Buen lunes amigas de las agujas, hoy les traigo un bordado en lentejuelas sobre un disco increíble de los Rolling Stones. No diré que es un bordado especial, porque todos lo son en algún aspecto, pero este es sin lugar a dudas mi dibujo preferido de esta banda y aunque mi traje ya tiene uno haciendo alusión a ellos, no quería que le faltase a mi colección.

Voodoo Lounge is an album from 1994 and was very special to me. I was introduced to this work of art in my childhood, and it still resonates with me today, surely connecting me to the little girl who listened to the songs one after another, without understanding them yet, but with the excitement of transcending languages and letting the music help me discover emotions.

Voodoo Lounge es un disco del año 1994 y fue muy especial para mi, en mi infancia me acercaron esta obra de arte y logra sensibilizar aún hoy, seguramente conectándome a la niña que escuchaba una tras otra las canciones, sin entenderlas aún, pero con ilusión de transgredir idiomas y dejar que la música me haga descubrir emociones.

I started with the drawing, as always on the fabric and taped at the top. Towards the end, you can see that I didn't follow the edges very well. They seemed exaggerated to me, and I didn't want that visual effect. Once I completed the edges and the black spots on the body, I moved on to the yellow.

Comencé con el dibujo, como siempre sobre la tela y encintado arriba. Hacia el final se nota que no seguí bien los bordes, me parecían exagerados y no quería ese efecto visual. Una vez completé los bordes y las manchas negras del cuerpo, pasé al color amarillo.

I wasn't going to find sequins that would work for this part either, so I think maybe I should have drawn it bigger. I still find it difficult to judge the ideal size for each embroidery, but the results continue to surprise me.

Tampoco iba a conseguir lentejuelas que sirvieran para esta parte, pienso que quizás debería haberlo dibujado más grande. Aún me cuesta reconocer cuál será el tamaño ideal para cada bordado, pero los resultados siguen sorprendiendome.

At this point, I always like to check that the back is progressing well too. I make sure there are no poorly knotted or loose threads. And I check that the neatness of the front matches that of the back. This is important because they will go directly onto the costume. I think about these details when I consider selling these pieces.

Llegada a esta parte, siempre me gusta ver si avanza bien en el dorso también. Busco que no haya hilos mal anudados, o sueltos. Y chequeo si la prolijidad del frente se corresponde con la del dorso. Es importante ya que luego van directamente sobre el traje. Pienso en estos detalles cuando pienso en vender estos trabajos.

I moved quickly with the yellow, always following the shape. This becomes a little more complicated, but if you have secured one part well, the next one fits comfortably. It's a matter of doing the work evenly. If you choose to start with yellow, you should leave a larger space for the black spots. I don't know what the result might be, I wouldn't think of doing it that way, but anything goes.

Avancé velozmente con el color amarillo, siempre siguiendo la forma, esto se vuelve un poco mas rebuscado, pero si haz afianzado bien una parte, la siguiente se adapta comodamente. Es una cuestión de hacer el trabajo de manera pareja. Si eliges comenzar con el amarillo, deberas dejar un espacio mas considerable para las manchas negras. No sé cuál pueda ser el resultado, no se me ocurriría hacerlo de esa manera, pero todo es válido.

Then I took five minutes to complete the face. There were very few beads, to be honest, and I chose the ones that don't shine to create a good contrast. I found it strange that the black parts ended up looking insufficient. The eyes don't stand out as much as I would like, but it wasn't the time to check if a correction was possible. I'll love it anyway.

Luego me tomé 5 minutos para completar el rostro, eran muy pocas mostacillas la verdad, y elegí las que no brillan para hacer un buen contraste. Me resultó raro que las partes negras terminaron pareciendo insuficientes. Los ojos no se notan como quisiera, pero tampoco era momento de ponerme a revisar si era posible una corrección, lo querré como sea.

Well, friends, once we have the whole shape ready and each knot securely tied, it's time to make the final border. You know, something to make it stand out from the surface we're going to use. But also to give it a background color, so we don't have to struggle to cut out every corner or gap in our embroidery. It's best to add a touch of color, in my case it was silver, so that it stands out without a doubt, since my design doesn't shine so much.

Bueno amigas, una vez que tenemos toda la forma lista y bien asegurado cada nudo, es hora de hacer el borde final. Ya saben, algo para que destaque sobre la superficie a usar. Pero también para darle un color de fondo, que sirva para no tener que recortar con dificultad cada rincón o hueco de nuestro bordado. Preferible darle un toque, en mi caso fue plateado, para que destaque sin lugar a dudas, ya que mi dibujo no brilla tanto.

Once we have the entire border ready, it's time to cut it out, take pictures, and think again about whether we will give shape to this love of art by selling these pieces. I would like to tell you that I accepted my first commissioned work, but as it is a different level of embroidery and size, I can't show you much yet and it will surely be something that will take shape, and then I will be able to share it as a new experience. Una vez que tenemos todo el borde listo, es hora de recortar, tomarle fotos, y pensar nuevamente si le daremos forma a este amor al arte, vendiendo estas piezas. Quisiera contarles que acepté mi primer trabajo a pedido, pero como es otro nivel de bordado y tamaño, aún no puedo mostrarles mucho y seguramente será algo que irá tomando forma, y luego lo podré compartir como experiencia nueva. Mientras tanto, les dejo un abrazo enorme, esperando que hayan tenido todas un buen lunes.
