A box of Gratitude molded into the Gift of a dress.

in NeedleWorkMonday5 months ago

It's a season of gift and we can never get tired of decorating more boxes. While everyone is filling their boxes with different ideas of gift and I can see Hampers flying around with different gifts from handmade items to gifts bought in stores, mine has been to sew more and more outfits daily as gift for the people around me.

Today after some moments of reminiscing about the events of the year and how I realized that I needed to bless a sister of mine with a gift. I have two elder sister and who have been a huge support for me in this year. So many times I fell sick and they took care of my health. I could remember when My sisters literally had to bath me in the bathroom when I was terribly sick and couldn't do that myself.
Throughout the moments of hospitalization they were there beside me and often pet me when it was injection time because of how much I hated taking injections.
For the other days I feel low and emotional they were there to encourage me.

Guess what

Before I had thought about gifting them something for Christmas, my sis has spared me a whole chicken as Christmas gifts 🐔🐔 🤣🤣😂
She has raised some birds in her small poultry cage and why she has chosen to keep this a secret I have heard whispers that she has prepared some Christmas gift for me.
It is going to be an exchange of gift and ever since I heard that she has spared me a chicken for a gift, I moved into action to make something for her in return.

So I had this 6yards of Fabrics I had earlier used for our elder sister since we are the three Big sis in the House.
Three yards of the Fabrics was still remaining but I was a bit skeptical if it will be enough for her size since she is in the extra large size range .

Her measurements are

Bust 46"
Waist 40"
Hip 43.

I decided to try my skills on this since there is alot of expenses this Christmas and we have to be careful with our expenditures.

A straight dress is what I can make best to maximize fabric but I won't be sew it plain straight, some embroidery and embellishment will do the trick for me .

See what I made of her dress...

A very Big dress of her measurements

I decided to sew a bustier with a yoke because I often find challenge sewing the yoke part hence I decided to give it one more try

With every project I try to learn new. After a serious of trials the joining of the yoke is now much easier and neater here

I have one clean finishing on the neckline up there.

The more I sew clothes everyday the more I get more perfect and the fear of damaging fabrics completely fading. I can never be less grateful that I had been patient to learn sewing even if it had taking me years to do so. The spirit of patience and resilience has actually paid off in my skills now and I can gift anyone a perfectly fitted outfits.

I can't wait to surprise my sis of her new dress.
The two big sis will be surprised that I made Christmas dresses for them both.

Wow! That was so sweet of your sister to have gift you with a whole chicken. Also, it is so thoughtful of you to think of gifting to people who mean a lot to you. It shows some kind of appreciation. The dress looks nice and I am certain your sister will like it.
