An important recycle project I made for me , trying to live within my means.

Hello Friends.

Today I want to share with you this recycle project I just did for myself. It is very important to me for two reasons and while you read along with me you will realize that it was just right for me to do these.

I was at home today and searched all my bag for something comfortable to wear while going about the house chores and others. Everytime I am at home I often wish to wear something that isn't tight like a dress and skirt.

A long or tight fitting dress and skirt is a terrible idea as those can disturb my comfort. Hence I love to wear shorts and mini pants, they are very comfortable and since I am often on my apartment a bum short isn’t often my best pick.

Wearing shirt pants or bum shorts also makes it easy for me to bend or knee while working and cutting clothes on the tiles. A skirt can restrict your position most times. Hence I needed a short made of any fabric that I can comfortably wear for my daily task.
I was a bit worried not finding any in my bag before realizing that it is an easy task and I can get one sewn within few mins. Very convenient and not time consuming.

Searching my fabric bag I didn't find any pieces large enough to make me a short hence I resort to recycle this top that has been laying in my bag with no use.

Another thing is that clothes are really expensive these days especially denim bum shorts. A simple short can be sold for as high as $3. I can't just wake up this morning to go purchase one just because I need it. One must always consider the money at hand as well.

I have this top I had made while learning how to cut and sew the women's traditional "iro" and "Buba" I ended up not wearing the top since it had no skirt or wrapper to go with it. Coming across it today during the thorough search I decided to transform the unsued top into a more useful short.

It doesn't matter if I will be wearing a shirt sewn with African print fabric or not. Most people would have prefer this to be a denim short but it's good to live within your means and as long as I am comfortable.

I ripped the top apart firstly

And then Since the length of the top was already determined this will have to become the length of my short as well.

Measuring out my waist and Hip measurements with the crotch debth and other I had cut out the front and back of the short pattern.

Knowing fully well that there are several ways that we can cut and sew a pant I chose the pattern that will make the recycle top enough to make a pant.

The band was cut out from the sleeves of the top

I stitched every pieces and added an elastic band here. I wish to use the 1” elastic but since I didn’t have I managed what I have at home. I can’t go out to buy more elastic as they are really expensive and it’s good that we work with our budgets and within our means in order to be able to manage the economic situation around.

One thing that makes me happy about the project is that I have a brand new short to work/walk comfortable at home with

I won’t have to spend money buying expensive ready made shorts from the market.

And I equally have giving some useful use to an unused outfit.

Wow, who would thought the materials will be enough for this shorts. Seriously u did a good joy with recycling this top to something comfortable.

That looks good actually and I didn’t even know it was this simple to make.
Indeed, this makes bending to cut easy especially if you’re working on the floor and not on a table.
It’s really cute

Beautiful short you got there, you really tried to recycle the top to short. Weldone dear.
