Hello Hive
Recently I started making my own caps and scarf with colors of fabric to match the different outfits I have.
I started with simple designs since i didn't know how to make this and I keep learning by myself and improving on that simplicity.
It is a norm to cover hair to Sunday mass and other church activities in my country.
Making clothes is easy and often times after they are ready and am to wear them on Sunday to mass I just realize that I don't have a scarf to cover my hair.
A simple solution is to get another fabric of different color and make a hair covering for such outfit.
The measurement for this cap originally ought to be 12 inches length and 12 inches breath on fold.
The breath is the head circumference which is 24 inches divide in two.
Now to get the pleats at the head band area where I folded in two inches for the band of the hair circumference
I added some extra length to the fabric.
I added 10 inches which was pleated into two inches apart before I continued with the sewing and other
Measurements
It is much like I added extra allowance to an original length of 12 inches which was the average length for this kind of cap.
Making it 24 inches before I pleated the excess at the forehead.
Creating pleats
Making it a multi color match
Am making an order for a pearl setting machine this week.
With it i can be able to add pearls of different color to the plain white velvet turban.
Adding black pearl like this can make the cap fit on both black or white outfit.
So embroidery with different other colors of fabric can make this fit with any color of outfit.
There are other hand stitch gathering i can do to make this fall in different shapes and outcome depending on how I want to style and use it. But am leaving this in its simple form for now.
Thats how I make matching turban caps for my various outfit
Beautiful work on this head covering. Great way to use smaller pieces of fabric.
Yes dearie, hope you are having an amazing weekend
@monica-ene this is beautiful
Hola. Es una linda creación, es muy ingenioso y creativo. Gracias por compartir tu idea. Un abrazo desde Colombia.
Thanks dearie ❤
Wow that is gorgeous, so colourful and creative too!
I would love to see someone wearing it as I'm sure that it looks fantastic on.
Would sure wear it when my machine comes and I pin in those pearls.
Would send just a pix here.
Am glad you like it.
How are you doing and the weather over your area?.
Excellent, @monica-ene, I can't wait to see it and I'm sure it will look fabulous too!
And it's so good to see you again!
it's been way too long.
I'm so happy to see you creating these gorgeous designs too.
Well we are still in lockdown no 6 and so far we have been in this lockdown for 2months, so no work.
And although Spring started 4 weeks ago, we have only had 4 vaguely warm days, the rest of the time it has been like the middle of winter still, so when its cold and wet and rainy, who wants to go outside anyway.
I'm a summer baby. I LOVE the heat and I can't wait for summer to come. It makes me feel so much better mentally and physically, but you're probably sick of it over there by now?
Another lockdown, we had lockdown only but once here, everyone is out and we are going about our businesses.
I can't imagine been locked in for a single day again.
Just be fine and take care of everyone around you.
Its still rainy but warm here.
I dislike extreme temperature either cold or hot.
I just want a moderate one I can relax and enjoy life.
My very best wishes dear.
That's why I'm not so bothered to be locked in (and we can go out for exercise and everything, just not in large groups, no parties...) But I have a heart condition and need to be careful, but more than that, I love being in my little miniature rainforest home and it gives me more time to spend doing the things that I want to do instead of working 8hour day on someone elses business you know.
I like you philosophy with the weather- I just want a moderate one I can relax and enjoy life.
Take care sweetheart and speak soon.
