Amigurumi de Chimmy: Mi Experiencia 🌼 [ENG-ESP]

¡Hola! Me presento en esta bonita comunidad de NeedleWorkMonday. Soy My Teenages y empecé hace poco acá en Hive. El día de hoy me complace compartirles mi segundo trabajo tejido. El primero ya se los mostraré más adelante.

Hello! I introduce myself in this nice NeedleWorkMonday community. I'm My Teenages and I recently started here on Hive. Today I'm pleased to share with you my second knitting project. I'll show you the first one later.

Hace unos años consideraba el tejido algo bastante estresante, el ver que tenía que hacer el mismo movimiento por horas y no hallarle forma rápidamente a mis proyectos me frustraba mucho, además siempre he sido más de seguir mi intuición y mi imaginación y no recibir indicaciones. En el tejido, si eres principiante, es bastante difícil hacer eso. Lo aprendí a la mala, así que inevitablemente lo abandoné, hasta que iniciando el año me propuse probar nuevos hobbys, entre ellos el tejido. Así fue como probé haciendo mi primer amigurumi que fue un regalo para mi amiga (en otro post les hablaré más de él). Uno de nuestros amigos lo vio y le gustó bastante.

A few years ago I found knitting quite stressful, seeing that I had to do the same movement for hours and not finding a shape for my projects quickly was very frustrating, plus I've always been more about following my intuition and my imagination and not taking directions. In knitting, if you're a beginner, it's pretty hard to do that. I learned it the hard way, so I inevitably gave it up, until the beginning of the year when I decided to try new hobbies, among them knitting. That's how I tried making my first amigurumi, which was a gift for my friend (I'll tell you more about it in another post). One of our friends saw it and liked it a lot.

Me lo pensé bastante porque aún soy muy principiante y el diseño que él pidió era más elaborado al que ya había hecho, pero la verdad, el dinero extra no me venía mal y él aceptó los riesgos de mi inexperiencia, así que me puse manos a la obra, busqué un tutorial, aguja e hilo y comencé.

After a few days, he wrote me a desperate letter asking me to please make him an amigurumi for his girlfriend, since February 14th was coming and he still didn't have a gift. She is a big fan of BTS. I thought about it a lot because I'm still a beginner and the design he asked for was more elaborate than the one I had already made, but the truth is that the extra money wasn't bad for me and he accepted the risks of my inexperience, so I got down to work, looked for a tutorial, needle and thread and started.

Desde el principio noté el cambio de dificultad, empecé por la cabeza, la cual destejí 4 veces en un día, por eso no tengo muchas fotos de ese proceso. La cabeza tiene una forma irregular, por lo que llevaba muchas disminuciones y aumentos. Perdí muchas veces la cuenta y tenía que devolverme en mis pasos para saber por dónde iba, tanto que te podría decir que en cualquier momento en que me voltearas a ver, me podrías encontrar contando.

From the beginning I noticed the change of difficulty, I started with the head, which I unknitted 4 times in one day, that's why I don't have many pictures of that process. The head has an irregular shape, so it took a lot of decreases and increases. I lost count many times and had to retrace my steps to know where I was going, so much so that I could tell you that any time you turned to look at me, you could find me counting.

La capucha también fue un reto, ya que cuando en el video decía “Half double crochet” y “Half double crochet decrease” te podrás imaginar mi cara. Y sí, el tutorial estaba en inglés porque, al parecer, a mí no me pareció suficiente reto y aumenté aún más la dificultad, por lo que tenía que buscar aparte otros tutoriales con la traducción y cómo se realizaban los puntos.

The cowl was also a challenge, because when the video said "Half double crochet" and "Half double crochet decrease" you can imagine my face. And yes, the tutorial was in English because, apparently, I didn't find it challenging enough and increased the difficulty even more, so I had to look for other tutorials with the translation and how the stitches were made.

Ya en la parte del cuerpo fue mucho más relajado. A este punto, aprender a cambiar de colores ya no era nada para mí. Creo que esta fue la parte que más disfruté. El cuerpo era muy pequeño y eso me causaba bastante ternura hasta que lo juntaba con la cabeza y veía que el tamaño realmente era desproporcional, pero intentaba convencerme: “Eso lo hace aún más tierno” “Hay caricaturas que son así” “Es malo juzgar” me decía a mí misma.

Already on the body part it was much more relaxed. At this point, learning to change colors was nothing for me. I think this was the part I enjoyed the most. The body was very small and that caused me quite cuteness until I put it together with the head and saw that the size was really disproportionate, but I tried to convince myself: "That makes it even more cute" "There are cartoons that are like that" "It's bad to judge" I would say to myself.

Tutorial que seguí para las orejas y otros detalles

Ahora solo quedaban los detalles y poco más. Con las orejas me encontré con mi primer grafico y, por más que lo intenté, simplemente no lo entendí. Así que bajé la velocidad del video y fui imitando lo que la chica hacía. A este punto eran las 2 a. m. y lo tenía que entregar al día siguiente, porque ya es costumbre dejarlo todo a última hora, eso es muy teenager de mi parte.

Now all that was left was the details and little else. With the ears I came across my first graphic and, try as I might, I just didn't get it. So I slowed down the video and mimicked what the girl was doing. At this point it was 2 a.m. and I had to hand it in the next day, because it's already a habit to leave everything to the last minute, that's very teenager of me.

Luego, la cara, realmente de este proceso no recuerdo mucho más que mis lágrimas, no sabía cómo hacerlo y todo me parecía bastante feo teniendo en cuenta lo tierno que es el personaje y sumarle la presión de que era mi primer proyecto pagado. No ayudaba. La verdad, en desesperación, le pedí ayuda a mi mamá y ella hizo lo que pudo.

Then, the face, I don't really remember much of this process other than my tears, I didn't know how to do it and it all seemed pretty ugly considering how cute the character is and add to that the pressure of it being my first paid project. It didn't help. To tell the truth, in desperation, I asked my mom for help and she did what she could.

Me séqué las lágrimas y uní todo. Le puse un poquito de rubor y siento que eso salvó un poquito su carita. Lo empaqué y se lo llevé a mi amigo. Le gustó bastante, tanto que ya no lo quería regalar. además, también recibí algunos elogios de otras amigas y uno que otro encargo por ahí. Al final del día me sentí muy orgullosa porque, por más que me estrese mucho, me demostré a mí misma que sí puedo hacer cositas más elaboradas y, aunque no salió como yo esperaba, tuve la persistencia para terminarlo y sé que mejoraré poco a poco. Aún tengo bastante tiempo (o no), pues estoy en My Teenages.

I wiped my tears and put it all together. I put a little blush on it and I feel like that saved his little face a little bit. I packed it up and took it to my friend. He liked it so much that he didn't want to give it away. I also got some compliments from other friends and a few orders. At the end of the day I felt very proud because, even though I stressed a lot, I proved to myself that I can do more elaborate things and, although it didn't come out as I expected, I had the persistence to finish it and I know that I will improve little by little. I still have plenty of time (or not), since I'm in My Teenages.
