You heard it right folks! We are running a WIP (work in progress) challenge for our Community!

How many times have we vowed to go into our project dungeons closets and grab an old project we’ve been working on to finish it?

Many times right?

Sometimes a project gets too difficult, or we run out of supplies and materials, we get bored and want to work on other projects or we loose stitch count and have to frog some of the project. Then there are times we realize we were doing the wrong measurements and it’s too late to do a simple fix but instead must start over.

So what happens after all of that?

We throw the project into the deepest box, in the deepest darkest loneliest closet ever, never to be seen again.

Farewell project…it was nice knowing you. You could have been amazing but you frustrated me too much. 🤣😂😅

Okay needleworkers. We want you to go and grab that project out of the dungeon, give it another shot and work on it for the next two months or less. We’re not saying finish it (if you do that’s a wonderful bonus) we just want to challenge you to give it another go and see where it takes you.

Most of us have all been there and has something lurking in that dark dusty box we’ve came across or thought about from time to time. Here’s your chance to redeem yourself and work on it along with others who will be working on there’s.

WE WILL DO THIS TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY!

Let’s encourage one another during this challenge to keep going and working towards getting a WIP progressed further or even finished! 😃🤩🥳

So here are the RULES:

1. The guidelines still apply to your project being needlework related or any form of fiber arts that deal with knotting, braiding, felting, lacing or any form of manipulation of fabrics and yarns.

2. To enter the challenge you must give us an introductory post introducing what your WIP is, how long it’s been in the dungeon, why you locked it away and what what your plans are for working towards completion of it.

3. During the challenge post your WIP progress any day of the week directly from the Community page.

4. You must always include the word WIP somewhere in your progress title! This will help us easily find your work and keep track of who’s participating. Also please add wip as one of your post tags.

5. When sharing your progress please show at least two photos so we can see how far along you’re coming. Also talk a little about the steps you’re taking and what you may be doing differently this time around. Take us along the journey with you so we can support you 😊.

Dates of Challenge:

The challenge will start July 1st and will run for 2 months ending on August 31st!

That’s right! We will be encouraging and motivating each other for 2 months friends. We really hope this time gets you motivated and pushes you to get done what you’ve been putting off for awhile. It will be fun doing this together as a group! 🤗

Oh and hey, if you finish the WIP you’re working on and want to start on another, go for it 🎉!! You’ll continue being entered into the weekly drawings as you share. Just be sure to do another introductory post to introduce the next one!

As mentioned earlier, if you don’t finish your WIP it’s okay. You should feel good just knowing you were able to dig it back out and work on it even for a little bit.

Weekly Prizes

We feel this challenge should just be that and not a competition. We will all be working towards the same goal.

With that in mind we will be doing a weekly random drawing (every Friday) throughout the challenge (that’s 8 weeks). We might draw 3 names or we may draw 4, it will be different every week and the prize amount will vary as well. 👀😄

When you participate during the week, your name will be entered in that drawing to win some HIVE/HBD! Whoo Hoo!!

The payout of this post will be used for the weekly prize drawing!

So who’s in 😃?

Ready, Set, Go grab those lonely WIPs!! 😆

The photos on the cover photo are from members who have posted and shared a WIP with us previously…@erikah, @monica-ene, @tibaire, @irenenavarroart, @fiberfrau and @kesityu.fashion. Thank you ladies and keep up the great work ~ 💗

Whoa! This is amazing for our community. This is the first time receiving this award! Thanks so much we’re very excited and honored!! 😃😍

We are glad to be able to use the payout to reward our members generously for their participation in this challenge!!

You're welcome @crosheille, it's well deserved! We hope you enjoy this badge 😊👍

Have a nice day!

Ummmm....that may get a leettle embarrassing. I have hubby items cut out from my first year of marriage. I have maternity clothing unfinished from my first pregnancy. Not to mention the endless newborn material piled up loved but uncreated. Lovey idea though @crosheille

 2 years ago (edited)

Hahaha no embarrassment, no shame for we all have those hidden projects lurking deep in our basements. 😄

Maybe the projects you no longer need for you and your family can be given away for charity?! Then you can free up more space for further ventures!! 😁

Thanks! So glad you like the idea ~

Oh nooooo from now on I will see myself as a leather-clad jail mistress punishing innocent cardigans, sweaters and socks (especially socks) in their wardrobe-dungeon 😂
Back to serious: I love this challenge, my real problem will be to decide which poor project to choose… there are so many :-DD
And I am so curious to see all the other forgotten and hidden things the community is working on. Perhaps I will get some dignity back, when i realise I am not the only one with a pile of unfinished projects. 🙏

You and me both @neumannsalva! Forget the boxes and boxes of repairs dating way back when. Unfinished sewing that was started with so much zeal. I hope the leather allusion is because you make leather products? Either way I roared with laughter over the opening line

 2 years ago (edited)

🤣🤣🤣

It’s time to get that zeal back!!

Ahem- no, no leather working on my side only strange images in my mind after reading of the dungeon of the unfinished projects :-D
But I am happy you had to laugh <3 (I am not always sure my humour is understandable through the writing, especially as English is not my native language)

Hahaha!! I thought you all would get a kick out of the dark dungeon reference! 😂

Yes, I think once you realize you’re not the only one you’ll definitely feel better. You can even see by reading the comments here. 😁

Thank you for this challenge. One more reason to continue with my work. Today I happened to talk a little bit about the progress of my work. There I go little by little and much more animated than less than a month ago!

Now knowing that I can post about the progress of my work as a post, gives me an additional plus, to continue with the firm goal and without leaving it aside.

Next week I will tell you about my progress.

You're doing so good sticking to this. I think you will be even more motivated now with this challenge. Keep going!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Oh oh oh! Just this morning I was dusting, it's amazing how amazingly #hive and its users change the look on my face for the better.

@crosheille thank you so much, I was hoping for a challange like this, I love it! The month of July we'll be having fun doing step by step and calmly those projects that we put away for different reasons.

I'm signing up for this challenge, at last my beloved forgotten fabrics will be back in my hands!

Success to all of you. 🙋🐝🤗

@vicmito74

Get active, I know you guys have your keepers 🤭🧵🙄.

Yay awesome! So great to know you were hoping for a challenge like this! Well it's now here so you can fully take advantage of it! 😃

Lookin forward to seeing lots of progressing!!

And I thought Helena has been made a VIP 🙂

She was VIP at first sight! 😄😉

Wow! Thanks so much @crosheille for this challenge, this will motivate me to go pick up those abandoned project and start working on it again, the joy of this challenge is that it will last for two months which will give me more time to think of how to design and combine other materials to those projects I abandoned because of insufficient materials, trust me I have lots of them heap up somewhere, now it's time to revisit those projects again.

Absolutely! You'll have a nice amount of time to get some progress in. This will be fun and accomplishing!! 😉

Wow 😮 this is really great, I will sure participate.

@adeife2 check this out

Awesome, we'd love to have you join. 😊

Thank you

Wow these is such a lovely initiative, I guess this will motivate me to pick of some of my abandon project and hopefully I'll be able to get it over with.

Kudos to every team member of the community, keep up the good work and have a blessed week ahead.

Yes, grab that project and get ready to roll!! 😆

Thank you, you have a blessed week ahead as well ~

Oh yes! Finally, a contest for all the WIPs. Haha. WIPs are waving on my mind now, they're somehow happy for the chance you've given @crosheille. 😅

And know what's the best thing? We can do or continue doing not just one, no, but more than one of the many WIPs we had. That is soo great. 😍 They have all the chances now. And how kind of you giving us an ample time to really finish it for 2months! Now, there's no reason why everyone can't participate. This will be fun and exciting. 🥰

My mind is scanning now all my WIPs. Lol🤣

I had to smile reading your comment - smile about myself because I honestly started to plan how I can finish all my projects, not one, but all :-DDD (completely impossible) I saw myself writing daily post, working meticulously on one after the other sweater, sock and cardigan. But then I woke up from my daydream and remembered I sadly am no millionaire and need to work sometimes instead of only knitting :-DDDDD
Looking forward to see your post (and your much more realistic plan of finishing one thing) <3

🤣🤣🤣 Love it!!

Lol!! Yes, I stand for the WIPs! I am now their official advocate!! 💪🏽😂

Yep, no excuses. There is plenty of time to at least get something done with one WIP. I hope this motivates many to do multiple WIPs. I think I just like saying the word WIPs now.
🤣😆😜

Have Fun!!

I'm no needleworker, but I do appreciate knitted gifts that come from family and friends. Fun challenge!

Thanks so much for this nice comment. We put a lot of thought, love and work into what we do to make it special. ☺️

This instantly made me think of a job that I have had on the mannequin for months hahaha, it seems to me a great challenge of group encouragement to face those frustrating tasks that were left in some drawer

YES! We will face the impossible, the unbearable and uncomfortable tasks together!!

We are stronger together!! 😆💪🏽💯

yes, working in a group is always better.

Absolutely!!

Bendiciones 🙏🏻😊

Exactly! Let's be encouraged to dust off those projects and get going again!

Thank you so much! It makes me happy to see so many excited about this!! Yay! 😀

Wow!!!

Oh wonderful! This sounds like an in time challenge for you then. I am so looking forward to seeing these long abandoned trapped projects! 😅😍

Aww of course! We want this community to be as fun and encouraging as possible. What better way than to be motivated together?!! 😘

Let’s enjoy the accomplishments that await!!

y yo que recien comienzo con proyectos tejidos, tengo una pequeña caja de raritos y abandonados, pero creo que puedo hacer algo con un poco de paciencia!! que gran proyecto !! 😍

Hey @littlesorceress that's great! Bring them out to join the party!! 🤩🥳😎

Hi, howdy. Grateful @crosheille for such an important decision, as I have some jobs full of demotivation stored in the trunk of memories.

I have the utmost conviction and certainty, that now I will finish some incomplete works, this journey excites me. 😉 ❤️

That's what we love to hear! Let's turn those incomplete projects into completed masterpieces!! 😃😍

So glad you’re excited like we are!! 😆

I love this challenge, it's a good way to motivate us to finish those projects that are hidden there, and when we order they jump out.

Now, I have several projects on hold, can I select more than one?

I will be participating in this great opportunity.

Regards

I'm glad you love this challenge!

Yes, once you have finished one you can move on to another. Please just remember that each new project needs its on introductory post (see Rule #2).

Looking forward! 😊

wow! Wow!!! this is a serious challenge. and if there are no unfinished projects, but there are unstarted ones for which there is not enough courage to start? will these fit? 🙈😀

Sure why not?! Just please follow Rule #2, it will still need an introductory post. Tell us what the project is, maybe share a few of the supplies you plan to use and what discouraged you from starting on it.

Agreed! No excuses. 😊😉

Oooh what an awesome challenge!! Thats so cool, well I guess we will all go through some tough times hahah I must say I already did get very inspired to face some of those project, especially by @neumannsalva facing her awesome knitting and crochet works, without arms or not enough yarn left... and I am looking forward to share those left-behind objects in the deepest boxes, in the community and see what comes together!!:) very inspiring challenge, thanks @crosheille to have come up with it!!:)

Yes! Here's to more inspiration to grab out those hidden left behind boxes of old. Who knows, maybe in the midst of this challenge new inspirations will spring to life too! 😃

This will be fun. So glad you're inspired! That was the mission so yay! ✅ 😍

Wou que genial! Me encantan los desafíos, ya quiero participar 😁 gracias por la iniciativa 😁😉

It's going to be so much fun going back to those projects I have abandoned in the past. The exciting thing about this challenge is that there is no pressure to finish the projects(in time). I can't wait to get started!

How interesting. I have less and less WIPs ...now I need to find more, haha. Great initiative.

Very good! A wonderful initiative. Just what I need to finish that sewing project I can't bring myself to start. Thank you so much for the space. See you then.

Wow. This is a great way to take the projects we have put away again and work on that.

Me encantaría interactuar con la comunidad en discord, pero el enlace me dice que la invitación está expirada, ¿Que puedo hacer, por favor?

Hi @needleworkmonday team. I just posted an introduction article to join this challenge, please check it out

Thank you

thsi is cute, I hoep I'll have the time

Hello, friends especially needleworkers @needleworkmonday.. please check out my WIP project

https://peakd.com/hive-127911/@devyleona/first-wip-project-progressing-my-net-crochet-bag

Thanks

Oh well, guilty as charged! LoL! And you're right. Hmmm the dig takes time too. Will choose which one goes first! 😂

This is such a wonderful and pertinent challenge for us all! I hope that you make it a regular thing!!
I have one unstarted project that I am planning - as strongly as I ever can - to initiate this week, and another couple - the pink lace blouse and the white playsuit, which both need some challenging finishing elements, which my skills and focus need to be super-engaged for.
I endeavour to do my best! It's really great to have you all here, to help me be accountable!
Blessings!

Hello, my friends at this community @needleworkmonday..
Finally i finished my very 1st wip, a mini net crochet bag.

https://peakd.com/hive-127911/@devyleona/first-wip-finished-mini-net-crochet-bag-easy-diy-needlework-how-to

Hope you like it ☺

This challenge sounds great! I do have a few things in what you refer to as "the dungeon" that I could start working on again. 😁 May I ask a question? Must the introductory post be a separate post from my actual participation? Or can I do that all in one post? 🤠

signal-2022-08-25-095245_006.jpeg

Beautiful sewing friends!

I got deep into my #wip this month, and have just posted a sharing around the creation process: https://peakd.com/hive-120078/@clareartista/healing-doll-creation-process

I shared it on the Natural Medicine community, because I want to make a more detailed video for here, talking live about it and showing the stitching close-up etc. It has been so wonderful and I've felt very supported by you all in this community: this project has involved a HUGE amount of challenge and growth, and it would've been extremely more challenging, to create without the positive comments here to encourage me!

Blessings and love!

Here is a content I would have definitely partaken in, I have so many WIP I would have gladly make use of this opportunity oh no 🤦‍♂️ my timing was so wrong I wish I had been here much earlier things would have been much better,
Am actually a new bie just got here and getting to know my way around 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Hahahah my sewing room is full of wips ( ok that sounds weird !!! ) the fact that i indeed have so many unfinished ones now has a possibility to make it to the part where i can wear them or show them of in a blog on hive
