Today I bring you something I always feel proud of the work of my hands. I am a great enthusiast of crochet knitting. I have always been captivated by it and I learned to crochet from my aunt Mercedes when I was 10 years old and very restless, to calm me down my aunt made me buy a Carmencita yarn and a Rose No. 4 needle for that yarn. She made me over and over again to knit my chain stitches and then the half stitches, the double crochet, and the double crochet stitches.

Hoy les traigo algo de lo que siempre me siento orgullosa: el trabajo de mis manos. Soy una gran entusiasta del tejido a crochet. Siempre me ha cautivado y y tejer a ganchillo lo aprendí de manos de mi tía Mercedes cuando yo tenía 10 años y era muy inquieta, para tranquilizarme mi tía me hizo comprar un hilo Carmencita y una aguja Rose Nº 4 para ese hilo. Me obligó una y otra vez a tejer mis cadenetas y luego los medios puntos, los puntos altos y los puntos dobles.

When I left fifth grade for sixth grade there were still final exams in Venezuelan education and for handicrafts, I presented a small crocheted rug with pabilo thread, because it was what I found at that time and I passed my subject with 20 points, I always remember that the teachers who were jurors asked me if I had done it and I showed them by mounting a chain because I had not finished my knitting for a long time. They were satisfied.

Cuando salí de quinto grado para sexto grado todavía existían los exámenes finales en la educación venezolana y para las manualidades presenté un pequeño tapete tejido a ganchillo con hilo pabilo, porque fue lo que encontré en ese momento y pasé mi asignatura con 20 puntos, siempre recuerdo que los maestros que eran jurado me preguntaron si yo lo había hecho y les demostré montando una cadeneta porque no tenía mucho rato que había finalizado mi tejido. Quedaron satisfechos.

Then my journey through the world made me addicted to crochet until now. And that's why I show and demonstrate, very proud of the things I am able to do with a needle and thread.

Luego mi transitar por el mundo me hizo adicta al ganchillo hasta estos momentos. Y por eso les muestro y demuestro, muy orgullosa de las cosas que soy capaz de hacer con una aguja e hilo.

I have knitted these earrings or tendrils as we call them in Venezuela, they are almost identical to the ones I knitted for my niece for her fifteenth birthday and that I showed in my introduction when I finally decided to enter the Hive world.

He tejido estos pendientes o zarcillos como les decimos en Venezuela, son casi idénticos a los que le tejí a mi sobrina para sus quince años y que mostré en mi introducción cuando decidí por fin adentrarme al mundo Hive.

The materials used were:
1.75 mm needle or crochet hook.
Perle cotton Nº 5
A pair of silver-colored fishhook tendrils
Two 1 cm diameter pearls with a 3 mm hole.
One pair of scissors.

Los materiales utilizados fueron:
Aguja o ganchillo de 1,75 mm
Algodón perlé Nº 5
Un par de zarcillos tipo anzuelo de color plate
Dos perlas de 1 cm de diámetro con agujero de 3mm
Una tijera.

Los puntos utilizados fueron: cadenetas, medios puntos, punto picot y punto deslizado.

El punto picot se realiza de la siguiente forma: un medio punto se tejen tres cadenetas y se cierra en la cabeza del medio punto muchas lo hacen cerrando en la última cadeneta contando desde la aguja hacia el medio punto.

I will make you a step by step so you can do it without any fear, my educator blood always tells me that if I have to demonstrate something I must do it in a way that everyone understands.
I started by knitting two chains, I lengthened the yarn on the second chain, introduced the pearl in the crochet hook, hooked the elongated yarn, and then passed it through the center of the pearl and closed it as it is normally done when you knit a chain stitch.

Te haré un paso a paso para que puedas realizarlo sin ningún temor, mi sangre de educadora siempre me dice que si he de demostrar algo debo hacerlo de forma que todos entiendan.
Comencé tejiendo dos cadenetas, a la segunda le alargue el hilo, introduje la perla en el ganchillo, enganche el hilo alargado y luego lo pasé por el centro de la perla y lo cerré como se hace normalmente cuando tejes una cadeneta.

Then I knit six chain stitches as shown in the picture.

Luego tejí seis cadenetas como se muestra en la imagen.

At the end of the six chain stitches, I proceeded to make a slip stitch where I wove my first chain before I strung the pearl.

Al finalizar las seis cadenetas procedí a hacer un punton deslizado donde tejí mi primera cadeneta antes de que ensartara la perla.

I then proceeded to knit only five chain stitches.

Luego procedi a tejer solo cinco cadenetas.

In this way I joined with a slip stitch the ring around the pearl and knit a chain stitch to go up to the next row.

De esta forma uní con un punto deslizado el aro que rodea a la perla y tejí un punto de cadeneta para subir a la siguiente vuelta.

We make a half stitch, three chain stitches, and execute the picot as shown in the published chart: it closes with a slip stitch in the half stitch.

Hacemos un medio punto, tres cadenetas y se ejecuta el picot tal cual como se muestra en el gráfico publicado: se cierra con un punto deslizada en el medio punto.

We execute the remaining five chain arc in the same way.

Ejecutamos de la misma forma el arco de cinco cadenetas que queda.

Thus we have another six picots in that arc for a total of twelve stitches and picots in the work.

Así tenemos otros seis picots en ese arco para un total de doce puntos y picots en la labor.

We prepare our earring or fishhook type earring.

Preparamos nuestro pendiente o zarcillo tipo anzuelo.

We close the row as follows: we knit a half stitch over the stitch that protrudes from the pearl, we knit a chain, we take the thread and stretch the strand, we pass the needle through the hole of the tendril, we take the strand that we had prepared and gently slide through it, we close the chain and make another picot.

Cerramos la vuelta de la siguiente forma: tejemos un medio punto sobre el punto que sobresale de la perla, tejemos una cadeneta, tomamos hilo y estiramos la hebra, pasamos la aguja por el orificio del zarcillo tomamos la hebra que teníamos preparada y deslizamos suavemente a través de el cerramos la cadeneta y hacemos otro picot.

Our tendril is now ready to knit. We close with a slip stitch at the beginning of the row.

Nuestro zarcillo ha quedado listo en el tejido. Cerramos con punto deslizado en el principio de la vuelta.

We cut the thread and hide the excess strands, thus leaving our work clean.

Cortamos el hilo y escondemos las hebras sobrantes dejando así limpia nuestra labor.

We make our second earring or earrings in the same way.

Hacemos nuestro segundo pendiente o zarcillos de la misma manera.

Here I show you how they turned out, don't you think they are very cute? For a gift to a young lady they are very nice. And they can be made in a few minutes if we have the materials at hand.

Aquí les muestro como quedaron. ¿Verdad que están muy lindos? Para un regalo a una joven están muy bien. Y se realizan en pocos minutos si tenemos los materiales a la mano.

And here are my finished tendrils, in the center you can see one that I am making with 100% recycled cotton thread and wooden beads, this model really has many possibilities with different types of thread, beads, or semiprecious stones.

Y he aquí mis zarcillos terminados, en el centro se ve uno que estoy elaborando con un hilo de algodón cien por ciento reciclado y cuentas de madera, este modelo en verdad tiene muchas posibilidades con distintos tipos de hilo, cuentas o piedras semipreciosas.
