It will all make sense one day, will it?
Hello, NeedleWorkers and Hivers around the World! I hope all is well in your end and that you are happy.
It's been a while since I last crocheted something (well, honestly I did but was never able to finish them) and I really missed making things out of just a simple thread.
But these recent weeks, I was able to pull out my crochet hook and made something for my daughters.
I never had any project in mind when I started but then I realized that all my daughters long skirts are too small for them. They need it whenever they go to church with my mum so I made up my mind that a skirt it will be.
Another thing is that I don't have any idea on wat design should I make and soon I decided yo make a simple skirt. It would have veen just double crochet around but since I am making the skirt in my workplace during my vacant hours, I would rather have it not complicated like needing to see which hole on the previous stitch should I insert my next stitch and then miss a stich and then I had to frog and go back to the previous round/row.
So I started up with chain 3, and made a double crochet on the first chain, chained another three and made a double crochet on the center of the two stitches I made in the previous round and I did it again and again until the size of my desired round.
During the making, I was not thinking of taking any pictures because of the fear that I might as well leave the project when it gets too boring.
And because my kids were not around me when I made the foundation chain, I just estimated it to fit the girls so that if the skirt is too short for @eylii, Laling would be able to wear them and if it is still too big for Laling, she could still wear it when she grows a bit bigger.
On and on my project grew longer and longer but I saw it was boring and I realized that f I would make the lower part the same size as the hips, my child will probably have a hard time to walk or run or whatever she wants to move.
Soon, I found myself browsing thru the web and found this incredible pin from an account name marisa61 in pinterest, and took a screenshot of it then I applied it on the skirt I made.
The design was pretty near to my current project so I was easy for me to change the plan and make some designs at the bottom part of the skirt. But since the design to be added was too late, I was not able to count and have enough stitch at the beginning. It turned out that there was a 1 space excess but it was bearable.well ir had to or rlse I will have to do it over agian and I don't like the idea.
Soon I started on the increase and it doesn't make sense to me at first, but as I continued on following the pattern diagram, it amll made sense slowly.
I made one row after another and another and I was at the point of having second thoughts if what I was doing was right , I traced back the pattern thoroughly and found out that I was at the right track.
Perhaps the same happens in life, a lesson I have learned over the past few months when I I got lost and confused in life and I thought that I had my life at hand and control it. Anxiety and depression came iver me unexpectedly and it peirced through the shield I thought I protected myself with. Also, I got sick and my energy drains a lot faster than it ever has. Glad I was finally recovering and now I was losing my 8 hours of sleep at night routine after a few weeks of working hard on it to recover faster.
I now realize that life is like crochet, it don't make sense at first but as we go further and further in life, we will be able to see the bigger picture and eventually everything will make sense and fall into place then we will only see the beauty of life if we keep on pushing upwards in life and never ever giving up no matter how tired and sick we may feel.
Soon I completed the first part of the diagram pattern and I was very happy taht everything fell into the right place. I honestly did some frogging and remaking during the process but it was normal and was besrable not to give up.
Anyway, I forgot the materials I used in this project, I used bag closer thread, I use two rolls and made 2ply and crocheted wusing a 3mm crochet hook.
In the last part of the skirt, I got very excited doing them that I forgot to take pictures during the making, and finished it right on my workplace area and took the finished project home that evening.
These are the details at the bottom of the skirt.
I still have it in me!
Yes! I still have it in me and I am very happy to see my finished work that is made from just a simple thread. My kids loved my work a lot but they wee not yet interested in wearing the akirt, rhey think it was too showy and didn't realize that they need to wear something inside of it to hide their skin.
I had two daughters and it's up to them who would my finished project. Currently, I was makng another set of skirt (but thsi time, I had the right count already, hopefully I am right) for the upcoming year end party next month because the organizer says we will have to wear bohemian fashion something.
I searched the web and I hope what Im doing was right and hopefully, I willbe able to wear something hand made that day.
anyway, I'll end rhis blog right here, I'll give an update soon if one of my kids would decide to wear the skirt and probably post about my current WIP.
This will be all for today, thank you so much for your time and never ending support. Keep safe and stay happy!
