Weird Holidays: National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day

in Nerday3 years ago (edited)

Today we celebrate the #1 Holiday on Planet Earth. ..

Yes, It’s Grilled Cheese Sandwhich Day.... one of our favourite holidays !

We celebrate with parades, and meals of giant Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, split pea soup, pickel and ice cold Coke or Root Beer. The party lasts all day long.

We use old cheddar, mozzarella, Gouda, Monterey Jack with Jalepenos, swiss, .... whatever we have in the fridge while under lock down.

We get that griddle hot, cover the bread with butter, pile the cheese high, add another piece of bread covered in butter, and grill until the cheese oozes out into the frying pan. We let the edges get a little crusty and then sometimes pile on more cheese and melt that too.

Instead of Coke you can drink some ice cold beer.

Here is my song for the Weird Holiday Grilled Cheese Day Playlist :

CHERRY GLAZERR - Grilled Cheese (2013)

Yum yum yum ....

Crispy bread and melted cheese. How can something that tastes so good be this simple? Welcome to National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day on April 12!

What’s the secret?

We asked Aaron Christenson, the owner of a small Central Oregon restaurant which won a recent readers’ poll in the categories of “Best Kids Menu” and “Best Family Restaurant.”

His response?

“A perfect grilled cheese has to have a super crispy exterior, brushed with garlic oil. Lots of melty cheese in the center. Thick cut, handmade bread is a must!”

And there you have it.

Now get grilling.
