Hello everyone
It is a great pleasure to be here this year again just like last year, this is my first post of year in this great community and I hope it met you all well. I'm so happy to be back here with my beautiful creativity this year 2025, I promise to make it a sweet ride all the way as I will be sharing with you different diy projects made by me in my area of specialty and I will have a great time with me.
I want to use this medium to wish you all a happy and prosperous new year as we journey through it with sound health and mind, I will also like to appreciate you all for your support and encouragement to my blog although the previous years, for your time, comment, reblog, upvote and all you do to support me, I have a strong feeling that this year will be another beautiful year with you all by my side.
Today, I will be sharing with you the making of a simple purse with side zipper pocket I made for my hand made bag to compliment the bag just like the customized ones at the store.
Sometimes ago, I made this beautiful tote bag for myself with an outter pocket but unfortunately without zipper which made it difficult for me to keep my phone, cash and cards safe in it, so in order to solve this, I decided to make a simple purse from the remaining fabric to compliment the bag and for safe keeping of my other items whenever I'm going out and the outcome was really nice.
Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process.
I cut out a square shape of 9 x 9" from the fabric with lining and interfacing.
For the flip cover, I measured and cut out 9 x 4.5" from the main fabric and interfacing.
I folded both sides together and I made a curve at the top after I had ironed interfacing on it.
It was set aside as I also ironed interfacing on the other piece as well, the I placed a zipper at the top and sew it together with lining.
It was top stitched on and the lining was folded up to the other side of the zipper as I sew on it the make a pocket.
The flip cover was also sewn to the other side of the zipper and top stitched on.
I placed it on a lining to cut out same shape and it was sewn together leaving an opening at the base of it where it can be turned inside out.
It was turned inside out and neatly ironed.
The opening was top stitched on as I measured 5" and folded it up, it was held together as I sew on it round the edges in a I shape from one side through the flip cover and to the other side.
Finally, I used my hand needle and thread to fix a pressing button to the appropriate place and my purse is ready.
With this matching purse with my bag, now I have a safe place to keep my phone, cash and cards before putting it in my bag.
I would gladly carry this bag around. It looks so good.
