DIY: Heart-shaped fomi keychain. [ENG+ESP]

Greetings creative friends.

After a while of absence, I'm back here to share with you more of my creations using fomi and recycled materials. Last month was full of difficulties that prevented me from keeping my creative routine and, although many of those difficulties persist, I have learned to adjust my schedule.

For this occasion I have brought you a tutorial in which I will show you step by step how to create a heart-shaped keychain decorated with flowers. For the making of this accessory I will be using plain and frosted fomi as the main material. Let's get to know the materials and then the step by step.

Tras un tiempo de ausencia, he vuelto por aquí para compartirles más de mis creaciones utilizando fomi y materiales reciclados. El mes pasado estuvo cargado de dificultades que me impedían mantener mi rutina creativa y, aunque muchas de esas dificultades persisten, he aprendido a ajustar mi agenda.

Para esta ocasión les he traído un tutorial en el cual les enseñaré paso a paso cómo crear un llavero con forma de corazón decorado con flores. Para la confección de este accesorio estaré utilizando fomi liso y escarchado como material principal. Pasemos a conocer los materiales y seguidamente el paso a paso.

1️⃣ The first thing to do is to mark and cut out two large frosted red hearts and a smaller silver one. You can use a sheet of paper to create a template or draw the heart directly on the fomi. If you do not have plain red fomi, you can use your own frosted red on the back.

Lo primero es marcar y recortar dos corazones grandes de rojo escarchado y uno más pequeño plateado. Se puede utilizar una hoja de papel para crear una plantilla o dibujar el corazón directamente sobre el fomi. En caso de no poseer fomi rojo liso, se puede utilizar el propio rojo escarchado por la parte trasera.

2️⃣ Using the dies or templates created earlier, mark and cut out the leaves and white pieces. Again, if you do not have any white fomi in stock, use the back of the silver fomi.

Empleando los troqueles o plantillas creadas con anterioridad, se marcarán y recortarán las hojas y los trozos blancos. Una vez más, si no tiene existencia de fomi blanco, utilicen el reverso del fomi plateado.

3️⃣ Using the hole punch or scissors, cut out three flowers from pink frosted fomi. With the die, mark and cut out a border pattern on white fomi. If you do not have a die, you can draw a wavy pattern and cut it out with the scissors.

Con la perforadora o con la tijera se recortarán tres flores de fomi escarchado rosa. Con el troquel se marca y recorta un patrón de borde sobre fomi blanco. En caso de no tener un troquel, se puede dibujar un patrón ondulado y recortarlo con las tijeras.

4️⃣ The next step is to create the two flowers that will be placed on the heart. For this you will need four pieces of plain pink fomi. The flowers can be of the same type or with different designs. After cutting out the petals, they will be thermoformed to arch them upwards and glued one on top of the other, respecting the order of size. In the center, some yellow pistils will be glued.

A continuación se crearán las dos flores que se colocarán sobre el corazón. Para ello serán necesarias cuatro piezas de fomi rosa liso. Las flores pueden ser del mismo tipo o con diseños diferentes. Luego de recortar los pétalos, se termoformarán para arquearlos hacia arriba y se pegarán uno encima de otro respetando el orden de tamaño. En el centro se pegarán unos pistilos amarillos.

5️⃣ With all the parts of the keychain ready, the assembly of the keychain begins. The white wavy border will be glued around the frosted red heart and the plain red heart will be glued on the back of the heart to cover the joint with the embroidery.

Con todas las partes del llavero listas, se comienza su armado. El borde ondulado blanco se pegará alrededor del corazón rojo escarchado y en la parte trasera de este se pegará el corazón rojo liso para cubrir la unión con el bordado.

6️⃣ Next, glue the silver heart in the center of the frosted red. On the left side of the silver heart, glue the three pink flowers. In the center of each flower, glue a yellow semi-pearl. If you do not have semi-pearls, you can use a small piece of plain yellow fomi.

Seguidamente, se pegará el corazón plateado en el centro del rojo escarchado. Por el costado izquierdo del corazón plateado se pegarán las tres flores rosadas. En el centro de cada flor se pegará una semi-perla amarilla. En caso de no contar con semi-perlas, se puede utilizar un fragmento pequeño de fomi amarillo liso.

7️⃣ On the free edge of the frosted red heart, place the green fomi leaves and glue them in such a way that they start from the point where the large flowers will be glued. On top of the leaves, glue the white spikes, which may need to be cut so that they are not too long. On top of everything, glue the pink flowers with the yellow pistils, thus covering the junction of the leaves and the spikes.

En el borde que queda libre del corazón rojo escarchado se ubicarán las hojas de fomi verde y se pegarán de forma tal que partan desde el punto donde se pegarán las flores grandes. Por encima de las hojas se pegarán las espigas blancas, las cuales quizás deban cortar para que no queden muy largas. Encima de todo se pegarán las flores rosas con los pistilos amarillos, cubriendo así la unión de las hojas y las espigas.

8️⃣ Ya para el final queda un paso que convierte a este adorno en un llavero como tal. Y sí, no hay más que hacer que colocar el aro con la cadena en la parte superior del corazón.
