Alebrije: personaje hecho a mano / Alebrije: handmade character

Este amigo Alebrije tiene características importantes, como su rostro que es el de un camaleón que se camufla en cualquier lugar y situación. Sus brazos son aletas de tiburón blanco, que lo hace fuerte y que le permite ser un gran nadador. También lleva patas de guepardo, por lo que es muy pero muy veloz y su atuendo es deportivo, que nos hace pensar que es un atleta dedicado. Quería que se viera femenina, sí, quería un Alebrije del género femenino, por lo que le agregué cabello liso y negro que recoje cuando va a correr y deja suelto si va a una reunión.

Hello friends of Hive Diy, I come to present you an Alebrije which has been handmade with pieces of fabric. Alebrijes are imaginary beings, which are formed by parts of animals and who are considered spiritual guides. I like these beings because they are fantastic and full of color, and because we can use different animal parts, we can give special powers and unique characteristics to each individual.

This Alebrije friend has important characteristics, such as his face, which is that of a chameleon that camouflages itself in any place and situation. His arms are white shark fins, which makes him strong and allows him to be a great swimmer. He also wears cheetah paws, so he is very very fast and his attire is sporty, which makes us think he is a dedicated athlete. I wanted her to look feminine, yes, I wanted an Alebrije of the female gender, so I added straight black hair that she picks up when she goes running and leaves loose if she goes to a meeting.

Y los aretes en las orejas son ese toque que la hace ver agraciada y distinta a sus compañeras con cara de camaleón. Adicional lleva un reloj, porque este ser sabe muy bien la importancia del tiempo.

And the earrings in her ears are that touch that makes her look graceful and different from her chameleon-faced companions. She also wears a watch, because this being knows very well the importance of time.

Proceso de Creación / Creation process

Para la cabeza de camaleón utilicé tela fleece azul, verde, naranja y rosada. Cada pieza fue cortada y adherida con aguja e hilo. Para los ojos utilicé tela verde y ojos color amarillo para darle un toque brillante en su mirada. La boca se delineó con hilo blanco y se añadió un trozo de tela negra desflecada para el cabello.

For the chameleon head I used blue, green, orange and pink fleece fabric. Each piece was cut and attached with needle and thread. For the eyes I used green fabric and yellow eyes to give him a bright look. The mouth was outlined with white thread and a piece of frayed black fabric was added for the hair.

Para el cuerpo utilicé alambre el cual le dará soporte y será como el esqueleto del alebrije. Lo primero que hacemos son las aletas de color azul y adherimos al alambre. También ponemos la cabeza y vamos cociendo sobre el muñeco la camiseta roja. Cubrimos las patas con tela peluche animal print y también cubrimos la cola. Hacemos una bermuda que luego le colocamos al alebrije para que quede con su atuendo deportivo.

Por último se agregan los detalles, como los aretes que son pompones rosa adheridos con alambre de bisutería. También le hago un pequeño reloj con el que medirá su frecuencia cardíaca y en sus pantorillas le coloco unas bandas de compromesión.

For the body I used wire which will give it support and will be like the skeleton of the alebrije. The first thing we make are the blue fins and attach them to the wire. We also put the head and we put the red T-shirt on the doll. We cover the legs with plush animal print fabric and we also cover the tail. We make a bermuda shorts that we then put on the doll to match its sporty outfit.

Finally the details are added, such as the earrings, which are pink pompoms attached with costume jewelry wire. I also make him a small watch to measure his heart rate and on his calves I place some compromising bands.

Es así como se crea este Alebrije, que ya tiene nombre y que es un homenaje a una mujer que admiro mucho. Aún debo construir una historia para hablarles de este ser y que conozcan un poco más de sus superpoderes. Siempre que creemos un personaje, debemos tener claras las características que lo harán único, para así lograr un trabajo que cumpla con lo que queremos mostrar.

Y eso es todo amigos, espero que les haya gustado este trabajo hecho a mano y construido desde la imaginación. Mi invitación es que se animen a dar vida a sus personajes, con los materiales que tengan en casa, siempre dandoles su propio toque creativo.
