Last week, my son, who is in grade one, had to submit a project on Bangladeshi crops. I had to help him a little to make the project real.
They generated some ideas about how to do the project and this one attracted him the most. As there are real crops presented in the project kids can relate more. And I agreed to make it happen.
Let me show you the process.
First I have selected some free-use photos from the web to make this list about the main food and cash crops of Bangladesh.
Some kids also drew the photos by hand. But I followed this method so that my son could attach the real crops side by side. I believe he will learn how they look in real life more in this way.
Then we made some small pocket-like storage to put the crops inside them. I use a plastic bag and some scotch tape to make these mini ones.
Then we put a small amount of each crop inside the bag and closed it with some more scotch tape.
This is the final look.
Now let me introduce to you the main food crops of Bangladesh. The rice, wheat, and pulses are the major. But we also have corn, potatoes, etc. Yes, they are native and all grow in our lands.
And these are the cash crops, we couldn't find the tobacco first as it was not available at our home. Then we had to buy a little from the nearby shop and later we put that in.
That was the project. My son was too excited that this came out good and he made it happen.
He grew up in this city, so it's nearly impossible for him to know in hand experience with the crops. He often helps me in cooking so he knows the names. But how they grow, and how they look in the field is still something he misses in his learning process. I wish I could make that happen.
But this, the colorful pictures and the projection will surely be in his mind which will help him in his upcoming learning journey; I hope.
It was fun.
Do you have similar experience doing your projects or helping your little one?
I think such kind of lessons are quite interesting and kids love to do it. I am sure your son done it happily with you.

This is the time for children to learn things. If parents help them, they pass school and college with good marks and all these things will help them in their future life.
I too believe this. Thanks for your insightful words.
