(Odontomantis planiceps) Commonly known as the mantis fly is a family of small to medium-sized insects in the order Neuroptera. There are many genera with about 400 species worldwide. Mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. They are only five species of mantises found in Europe. As the name suggests, members of this group have raptorial forelegs that are similar to those of the mantis.

This insect has a fairly fast running speed but if not touched and taken carefully, the insect has a calmness that is easy enough to photograph. They also live in groups and often adapt to leaves.
