Greetings, community. Today I want to share with you another of my drawings inspired by Holozing creatures. This time it was the turn of Xolobis, a creature that, according to its creators, is inspired by the Egyptian god Anubis, although the “xolo” part seems to me that it also makes a little reference to the dog breed xoloitzcuintli.

Saludos, comunidad. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes otro de mis dibujos inspirados en las criaturas de Holozing. En esta ocasión le tocó el turno a Xolobis, una criatura que, según sus creadores, está inspirada en el dios egipcio Anubis, aunque la parte de "xolo" me parece que también hace un poco de referencia a la raza de perros xoloitzcuintli.

This majestic being has an incredible demeanor and appearance worthy of the race to which it refers. That's why I wanted to use the original canine form and then add a more ancient Egyptian look to it. Once I finished the drawing, I used an artificial intelligence tool to convert my pencil strokes into digital art. I hope you like it.

Este majestuoso ser tiene un porte y aspecto increíbles dignos de la raza a la cual hace referencia. Es por ello que quise utilizar la forma canina original para luego agregarle un aspecto más semejante al egipcio antiguo. Una vez terminé el dibujo, utilicé una herramienta de inteligencia artificial para convertir mis trazos de lápiz en arte digital. Espero les guste.

Step by step // Paso a paso

I started by tracing the main outline of the creature, which keeps its gray features but with an addition of size in the ears and a short mane at the back of the head. To the same sketch I added more details on the chest, face and abdomen, being mostly jewels and precious stones.

Empecé trazando el contorno principal de la criatura, el cual mantiene sus rasgos canosos pero con un agregado de tamaño en las orejas y una melena corta en la parte trasera de la cabeza. Al mismo boceto le agregué más detalles en el pecho, cara y abdomen, siendo en su mayoría joyas y piedras preciosas.

When I finished adding the details to the main body, I went on to incorporate some ornaments in the background that I recently saw in an Egyptian movie and thought were really cool. Once I was satisfied with the pencil sketch, I went over each line with a black ink pen and then erased the pencil design on top of the drawing.

Cuando terminé de agregar los detalles al cuerpo principal, pasé a incorporar en el fondo unos adornos que vi hace poco en una película egipcia y me parecieron muy geniales. Una vez estuve satisfecho con el boceto a lápiz, repasé cada línea con un bolígrafo de tinta negra para luego borrar encima del dibujo el diseño a lápiz.

I started by drawing the mane, tail and claws, as these would be a deep black. On the other hand, I drew the rest of the body with a mixture of light black and dark gray to create a textured look and thus achieve a resemblance to the fur.

Empecé dibujando la melena, la cola y las garras, ya que estas serían de un negro intenso. Por otro lado, dibujé el resto del cuerpo con una mezcla de negro claro y gris oscuro para crear un aspecto texturizado y así lograr una semejanza al pelaje.

After giving black and gray all over, I moved on to bright colors. The inside of the ears are a mix of dark and light brown. The face and paw markings are gold. The chest is gold also, but with dark blue and light blue stones, as is the back trim. When I finished with the body, I moved on to color the background, for which I used the same combination of brown as on the ears and a bit of dark peach, thus achieving a look of old wood and dirty fabric.

Luego de dar negro y gris por todos lados, pasé a los colores vivos. El interior de las orejas es una mezcla de café oscuro y claro. Las marcas de la cara y las patas son doradas. El pecho es dorado también, pero con piedras azul oscuro y azul claro, al igual que el adorno de lomo. Cuando terminé con el cuerpo, pasé a dar color al fondo, para el cual utilicé la misma combinación de café que en las orejas y un poco de durazno oscuro, logrando así un aspecto de madera antigua y tela sucia.

Once I finished coloring, I used an app called AI Artist, with which my drawing got a beautiful finish, as if it were digital art. I am very happy with this result and I think I will use this technique with my next drawings to see how they look.

Una vez termine de dar color, utilicé una app llamada AI Artist, con la cual mi dibujo obtuvo un acabado hermoso, como si de un arte digital se tratase. Estoy súper contento con este resultado y creo que utilizaré esta técnica con mis próximos dibujos a ver cómo quedan.
