Hello everyone! I’m lorentm, a digital artist passionate about expressing emotions through form, light, and composition. Today, I’m very excited to share with you my artwork inspired by one of the characters from @holozing. It’s an honor to be part of this creative and kind community, especially during this year’s Zingtober!
This piece belongs to day 15, with the prompt Ragged. When I read that word, I immediately thought about imperfection as beauty — about something that may seem broken but still carries elegance and meaning. That’s when I decided to portray the female Ocean Healer, one of my favorite characters from Holozing.
She represents balance, calmness, and healing — like the ocean itself. I imagined her standing with confidence, wearing a gown made from torn fabric pieces, each one stitched together to form something beautiful and powerful. A perfect metaphor for how even in our imperfections, we can find grace.
I also want to express my heartfelt thanks to @acidyo and @holozing for their continuous support to artists like me. Their encouragement keeps my creativity flowing and inspires me to grow with each artwork I create.

Hoy me siento muy emocionada de compartir con ustedes una obra inspirada en uno de los personajes de @holozing. Es un honor formar parte de esta comunidad tan creativa y amable, especialmente durante el Zingtober de este año.
Esta pieza corresponde al día 15, con la palabra clave Ragged. Al leerla, pensé inmediatamente en la belleza que puede existir en la imperfección, en aquello que, aunque desgarrado, conserva elegancia y significado. Así nació mi decisión de representar a la female Ocean Healer, uno de mis personajes favoritos de Holozing.
Ella representa el equilibrio, la calma y la sanación, como el propio océano. La imaginé de pie, con confianza, vistiendo un vestido hecho de retazos de tela desgarrados, cada uno unido con sutileza para formar algo hermoso y poderoso. Una metáfora perfecta de cómo, incluso en la imperfección, podemos encontrar la gracia.
También quiero expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento a @acidyo y @holozing por su constante apoyo a artistas como yo. Su motivación mantiene viva mi creatividad y me inspira a seguir creciendo con cada obra que realizo.
In this monochromatic illustration, the female Ocean Healer stands poised under the soft glow of stage lights. The grayscale tones emphasize her strength and quiet determination. Her short, smooth hair frames her face, and her gaze is steady, full of purpose.
Her gown, made entirely of overlapping fabric patches, flows downward like gentle ocean waves. Each layer feels organic, as if stitched from fragments of the sea itself. The torn textures and uneven edges highlight the theme of Ragged, turning imperfection into an element of sophistication.
Behind her, the stage curtains open slightly, allowing light to spill across the scene. The environment feels theatrical yet intimate, as if this were a moment frozen in time — a quiet celebration of resilience and transformation.
En esta ilustración monocromática, la Ocean Healer femenina se muestra erguida bajo el suave resplandor de las luces del escenario. Los tonos en escala de grises resaltan su fuerza y su tranquila determinación. Su cabello corto y liso enmarca su rostro, y su mirada es firme, llena de propósito.
Su vestido, hecho completamente de capas de tela superpuestas, cae con suavidad como las olas del mar. Cada retazo parece orgánico, como si estuviera cosido a partir de fragmentos del propio océano. Las texturas desgarradas y los bordes irregulares reflejan perfectamente el tema de Ragged, transformando la imperfección en elegancia.
Detrás de ella, las cortinas del escenario se abren ligeramente, dejando que la luz se derrame por toda la escena. El ambiente se siente teatral, pero al mismo tiempo íntimo, como si este fuera un instante congelado en el tiempo — una silenciosa celebración de la resiliencia y la transformación.
Process / Proceso
I began the piece with a rough digital sketch, focusing on the composition and pose. I wanted to capture her posture — confident, yet full of calm — to embody the balance between power and serenity.
Then came the line art, which I drew with fine, steady strokes to define her features and the texture of the torn gown. The lines became an essential part of the aesthetic since, in monochrome art, every stroke adds weight to the overall emotion.
For the inking, I played with varying levels of black, gray, and white to build contrast and depth. Each patch of fabric was shaded individually to give the illusion of texture and volume, making the dress look almost tangible.
Next, I worked on the shadows, layering them to create a sense of direction and atmosphere. The lighting was especially important — it needed to highlight her expression while keeping a dramatic tone that matched the theme of imperfection.
After that, I added subtle highlights on the edges of her dress, hair, and face to simulate the reflections of stage lights. Those touches of brightness brought life to the grayscale, creating balance between softness and intensity.
Finally, I completed the background with blurred curtains and spotlights, giving depth to the composition and framing her as the center of attention — as if she were about to step forward and tell her story through light and shadow.
Comencé la obra con un boceto digital sencillo, enfocándome en la composición y la pose. Quise capturar su postura — segura, pero serena — para reflejar el equilibrio entre la fuerza y la calma.
Luego pasé al delineado, realizado con trazos finos y firmes para definir sus rasgos y la textura del vestido desgarrado. En una obra monocromática, las líneas son parte fundamental de la estética, ya que cada trazo añade peso emocional al conjunto.
En la fase de entintado, jugué con diferentes niveles de negro, gris y blanco para construir el contraste y la profundidad. Cada retazo del vestido fue sombreado individualmente para dar la ilusión de textura y volumen, haciendo que pareciera casi tangible.
A continuación trabajé las sombras, aplicándolas por capas para generar dirección y atmósfera. La iluminación era clave: debía resaltar su expresión y al mismo tiempo mantener un tono dramático que acompañara el tema de la imperfección.
Después añadí pequeños brillos en los bordes del vestido, el cabello y el rostro para simular los reflejos de las luces del escenario. Esos toques de luz dieron vida a la escala de grises, creando un equilibrio entre suavidad e intensidad.
Finalmente, completé el fondo con cortinas desenfocadas y luces de escenario, aportando profundidad a la composición y enmarcándola como el centro de atención, como si estuviera a punto de salir a contar su historia a través de la luz y la sombra.

Creating this monochrome artwork reminded me that simplicity can be powerful. Working without color allows emotion to speak through light, shape, and contrast. The Ragged theme pushed me to find beauty in irregularity, in the soft balance between chaos and harmony.
I feel truly grateful to participate in Zingtober and share my work with such a wonderful community. Thank you again to @acidyo and @holozing for constantly supporting and inspiring us artists to grow and express ourselves. I can’t wait to continue this creative journey with all of you!
Crear esta obra monocromática me recordó que la simplicidad también puede ser poderosa. Trabajar sin color permite que la emoción hable a través de la luz, la forma y el contraste. El tema Ragged me impulsó a encontrar belleza en la irregularidad, en ese equilibrio suave entre el caos y la armonía.

The tools I used for the drawing were the following:

- Capacitive pen (Stylus).
- Ibis Paint X program.
- Brushes: Pencil, Airbrush, Fuzzy, Marker.
