Surf's up, Zinguini style | Holozing fanart!

Hello guys!

How's everyone doing these days? I hope you are at max health because I'm not xd. I'm feeling under the weather since yesterday. Today I got a mild fever. I thought about skipping this week but I couldn't sleep anyway so I decided to complete something I have been working on since 2 days ago.

Ever since Holozing dropped the ice creatures I had an idea to draw them snow surfing with their healer where the healer stands on top of the creature. I didn't want to use Zingu here because he is small (felt like animal abuse 😬) so he wouldn't be able to handle the weight of the healer. But Zinguini, the evolved form, a much more stronger and bigger form can definitely handle that so with that in mind I looked for a guy surfing and found a reference to my liking from Pinterest. This only covered the healer. For the Zinguini part, I had to use a bit of my imagination in that area because his physical form is slightly different from a normal penguin and the pose is of sliding. Well enough blabbing haha so here is the finished work.

The Process

• Made a rough sketch first using the reference and drew our Zinguini under his feet as you see above.

• Made a clean lineart using penfade brush from the rough sketch.

• Painted in the base colours

• Decided to paint the background along with the characters as I progress.

• Painted the sun in the background and started painting his skin.

• Quickly rendered his hair because the area covering it is small when you consider the character's size and the size of the canvas.

• Painted two dark shades on his coat based on the light source.

• Started painting his dark blue top and pants

• Started painting the Zinguini according to the source of light

• Painted the edges of his frozen wings with white to glow it later.

• Started painting the snow in a way that it looks like their are snow surfing

• Painted some ice mountains in the background.

The Result

• Painted some trees in the background and painted the shadows on the ground with respect to the light source. Finally I refined the painting a lot before posting it here.
